About me:
Our mission is to enrich the lives of the men and women fighting for freedom abroad by providing books to help them pass their downtime.
Become a Member:
We hope that no matter where you stand on the War in Iraq, you will stand with us in support of the men and women risking their lives for this country and the freedoms we enjoy. We propose that those of us given the freedom to put into print our ideas, our dreams, and our passions show our support for the men and women who keep this country free.
Authors can join the ranks of Dedicated to Our Defenders by donating as little as two books to our Defenders movement in support of our troops. In turn, authors will be listed on this site as supporters of our men and women fighting for freedom abroad. There’s also the benefit of knowing that you helped to brighten someone’s day!
Publishers can also join the ranks of Dedicated to Our Defenders and be listed on the Dedicated to Our Defenders website by donating books, discounting book prices to participating customers, offering free shipping to the Dedicated to Our Defenders organization, and encouraging their authors to participate in this most worthwhile endeavor.
Everyone can contribute by purchasing books online at a reduced price from contributing authors. The purchased books will be sent to our young men and women (our Defenders) serving our country abroad. The discounted price of the books reflects the authors’ continued support. Those purchasing books will be given the option of lending their moral support by enclosing their e-mail address with the book so the soldier who receives their support can send them a personal message.
I have met many of the brave people defending our country as I have traveled across this nation for book signings. A twinge of guilt always accompanies these encounters as I ask about their experience. The one recurring statement is, “Downtime is the most difficult aspect of being stationed overseas. There is little to do. Books are passed around from person to person until the entire platoon has read it.” With your help we can fill the void of being so far from home.
