Bio
Buffalo Music Award winner Dee Adams writes and sings punchy, poetic, acoustic guitar driven songs drenched in hooks and harmonies. Reviews have coined Dee’s style as “earthy”, “sweet to spunky”, and have said that she has “lyrics that speak to the heart and mind”. With elements of blues, rock, and folk, Dee’s voice is the centerpiece of her lyrically and melodically lilting songs, which range in subject matter from birds, to guns, to countless themes of human nature and social maladies. * Among Dee’s accolades and accomplishments is her appearance on the 2002 Songs Inspired By Literature compilation. Having been named Grand Prize Winner of the Songs Inspired by Literature songwriting contest, Dee’s song “Pennsylvania” can be found alongside tracks donated by David Bowie, Roseanne Cash, Steve Earle, and Tom Waits. You can buy the cd at artistsforliteracy.org, amazon.com or at cdbaby.com. * In February 2003, Dee’s EP with travelling band The Roadtrippers, "Taking My Time", was released on Sage Indie Music. A lush, well produced set of songs that sent the band to gigs all over New York City, including the legendary CBGB's. The title track is now in regular rotation at Western NY's 107.7 The Lake. You can purchase this EP by visiting sageindiemusic.com. * Diverse as well as particular about the songs she plays, Dee not only plays solo, but with her rock band The Housecats, and sings vocal jazz standards with The Billy Baroo Jazz Ensemble. Dee & The Housecats are a twangy, organic, electrifying version of the acoustic songs she's written, with Charlie Gannon and Dave Kimball on electric guitars, Mike Tinsmon on bass, and Nick Runfola on drums. Their recording "Widow" will be mixed through summer 2010 and hopes to see the light of day by fall. * The Billy Baroo Jazz Ensemble is a flirtatious take on vocal jazz standards through the decades. Billy Brandau creates a playful energy on the piano that Jim Hazelet amplifies with his smooth but jumping upright bass lines. On top of that, Dee thinks back to her Berklee days of studying Ella, Billie, Sarah, and Dinah, and recalls a bit of all of them in her dancing vocals. * Check back here at Myspace or visit deetuned.com for updated news and show information. -
