Dee Davis's Interests
|
| General | Well, at present, when not writing, I'm totally into playing computer games. Although I'm not sure exactly what that says about me. In general, I like shopping (I have a weakness for purses and shoes), creating something fabulous in the kitchen, eating out (a meal in a great restaurant is my idea of heaven), traveling, sipping wine, finding adventure (although not the life threatening kind. For that I can just live vicariously through Jack Bauer), and exploring my surroundings (which at the moment means Manhattan).
| | Music | I love all kinds of music, from show tunes, to classical, to rock and roll. But in my heart of hearts I'm a rocker. My current favs include Chris Daughtry, anything from Chad Kroeger, David Cook, the Verve, the Fray and the Killers. Got an iPod a year or so ago and have gone insane downloading songs. Both new and old. Sometimes nothing will do but the old classics. Cream, Pink Floyd, and some one hit wonders from the late 60's I'll leave unnamed.
| | Movies | Well, there isn't room to list them all. But here are a few: The Terminator (it's a practically perfect story), The Guns of Navarone (if you haven't seen it--do!), The Wizard of Oz (I'll get you my pretty, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Rogers and Hammerstein's Cinderella (don't say anything, a fell in love with it when I was a kid), Sabrina (the original version), The Alamo (John Wayne version), Titanic, Emma, My Big Fat Greek Wedding. And at the moment the position at the top of the list goes to --- BIG FISH. Just saw the new Star Trek Movie and thought it was great!
| | Television | I watch entirely too much TV. But here goes: Chuck, MI-5, Lost, Gray's Anatomy, Private Practice, House, My Boys, Friday Night Lights, The Closer, Brothers and Sisters, and Cold Case. Fav reality: Idol (I was for Adam), Survivor (can't get enough of Jeff Probst), Iron Chef, and So You Think You Can Dance(guilty summer pleasure.) Oldies but goodies: Lost in Space, Mod Squad (yes I'm THAT old), MacGyver, Sex and the City (not that old, but off the air). And the current top TV show for me: House
| | Books | Love to read, but tired of typing, so will stick to classic favs: A Wrinkle in Time, The Chronicles of Narnia, My Brother Michael, Go Ask Alice, Guns of Navarone, Winds of War, Two from Galilee, Lost Horizon, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, The Great Divorce. As far as authors: anything by Mary Stewart, Michael Crichton, Robin Cook, Barbara Samuel, Tolkien, Alistair MacLean, and Virginia Ellis. Currently enjoying Emily Giffin. As for my books - I've written three time travel romances, ten romantic suspense novels, three novellas, and most recently a light-hearted confection about a matchmaker in Manhattan. Watch for the sequel Set-Up in SoHo in 2009.

Dee Davis's Blurbs |
About me:
So here I am at MySpace, thinking that I'm probably too freakin' old for this. (If for no other reason than because I've got to figure out all this html stuff.) But I'm a tail-end baby boomer, which means I've got game, and so I'm giving it a go!
If you haven't already worked it out, I'm a writer. (Fourteen books and three novellas on the shelves -- four more in the pipeline)
Quick sample of Books include:
I'd love to tell you that I sit around all day wearing a tiara and eating bonbons -- actually on second thought, that'd be kind of freaky. The truth is I lead a fairly ordinary life. Or at least as ordinary as anything I do ever is.
Here's the official run down(at least according to my website -- and they ought to know):
Dee Davis has a BA in Political Science and History, and a Masters Degree in Public Administration. During a ten-year career in public relations, she spent three years on the public speaking circuit, edited two newsletters, wrote three award winning public service announcements, did television and radio commercials, starred in the Seven Year Itch, taught college classes, lobbied both the Texas State Legislature and the US Congress, and served as the director of two associations. Her highly acclaimed first novel, Everything In Its Time, was published in July 2000. Since then, among others, she’s won the Booksellers Best, Golden Leaf, Texas Gold and Prism awards, and been nominated for the National Readers Choice Award, the Holt and two RT Reviewers Choice Awards. To date, she has sold eighteen books and three novellas, including The Last Chance Trilogy and romantic suspense novel Chain Reaction. She’s lived in Austria and traveled in Europe extensively. And although she now lives in Manhattan she still calls Texas home.
There now, that's better than anything I could have written, don't ya think?
Just for fun here are the some of my covers:
The Time Travels:
A few of my favorite suspense titles:
And the Last Chance Trilogy:
So that's me and my books. And now I'm officially on MySpace. Not bad for an old geezer, huh?

Who I'd like to meet:
I love meeting readers, and writers and fellow authors. Artists of any kind really. And on the star struck side of things would love to meet Ellen Degeneres, James Cameron, Michael Crichton, Cameron Mackintosh and of course I wouldn't be adverse to Johnny Depp or Sean Connery showing up at my door.
