Bio
Singer DeeDee Wells was born in Rochester, New York and was exposed to great gospel groups in her early childhood. She started singing at the age of seven in her local church (Little Lighthouse Church in Rochester). During her teenage years, DeeDee became a member of a group called Gospel Explosion. She also joined a Statewide Choir called Gospel Unique and participated on this choir for several years until she graduated from high school. DeeDee relocated to Florence, South Carolina after graduating and became a member of Bethel Apostolic Church under the leadership of Bishop Harry Williams. She actively participated on the Youth Choir at Bethel for two years and served faithfully as Choir President. Eventually, DeeDee became a member of the S & E Choir in Florence, South Carolina. Inspired by the music ministry of gospel recording artist Yolanda Adams, DeeDee began to give a career in ministry more serious consideration. In 2004, she was encouraged even further by a family friend who heard her sing a solo. Motivated by her friend’s advice, DeeDee started writing songs, and within a six-month time frame, she recorded nine of them on her first local CD project. Over the years, DeeDee has performed at many public and private worship events. She made her first solo appearance at Bethel Apostolic Church in July 2005. She later performed at The Luther Barnes 9th Annual Fall Gospel Classic, along with Dorothy Norwood, The Williams Brothers, Slim and the Supreme Angels, and many other gospel artists. DeeDee also performed in Rochester, NY and gave songs of praise in a concert along with Luther Barnes and The Williams Sisters in 2006. From there, it has been a steady flow of performances and appearances. “I recently had someone tell me, DeeDee you have touched my life in more ways than you will ever know. I also have had people to encourage me to keep singing because they can see the lives I am touching. Hearing comments like these, makes me want to strive even harder to reach people and spread God’s word.” A committed family woman, and mother of 3 sons, DeeDee has a firm grasp of what she needs to do to take her music to the next level. With the help of new management, a new producer, and her new group (Tru Purpose), DeeDee is hard at work on her first professionally recorded demo project. She is a dedicated member of Kingdom Life Ministries in Darlington, South Carolina, under the leadership of Pastor Jeremiah and First Lady Tiffani Merritt. Looking ahead, her goal is to work diligently as a servant of God, creating a platform that will allow her to perform to wider audiences. -
