Dee Dee York, born June 7, 1991 in Aurora, Canada, moved with her family to the Netherlands when she was three years old. Dee Dee composes her own songs both, text and music and wrote her first ballade “Nothing else I can do” when she was thirteen (13) years old.
Her sweet and warm voice, combined with a solid rock base, fascinates from the first moment and gives her songs a pop/rock character. Sometimes sensitive and subtle, then again with a spiky rock sound. Her rock song “You’re all you think about” was in March 2008, for a period of four weeks 1 of the top 40 at the charts of the Dutch musicians site MusicFromNL.
Despite her age, Dee Dee performed already on the well known Dutch rock stages like, Perron 55 Venlo, Escape Amsterdam, Waterfront Rotterdam, Paard van Troje The Hague, Simplon Groningen, 013 Tilburg and Nirwana, Lierop.
In February 2008, Dee Dee York and Band did win a place at the finals of the Dutch High School Music Competition, arranged by the POPUNIE. The Dutch radio station VPRO commented in their magazine 3voor12 “Dee Dee York’s sound is professional, subtle singer songwriter music with a solid pop/rock base and radio ready. Dee Dee performs with her own band which was formed in May 2006.
