My first DJ experience was at a village charity football tournament when I were just a lad of 15. I had to entertain the “crowd” using a tape deck and a record player and no mixer and I could be heard on the other side of the village. What a day I had!
Since then I've honed my skills to such an extent that a good friend once said I had "No technical abilities and terrible taste in music". Nice.
I have a little lunchbox of fun containing hundreds of fine tunes in the styles of bluegrass to jungle, swing to techno (just 2 tunes but they're whoppers!) 80's cheese, country and western, lo-fi, old skool hardcore (the hands in the air whistle posse type rather than the angry crusty punk kind), indie, pop, ska, reggae, rawk, punk and other stuff I don't know what to call.
I was lucky enough to do my All Time Top 100 at the Sidewinders a while ago. Check out my favouritest 100 songs ever! here) but what I listen to in the privacy of my bedroom is a bit more on the miserable side that what I play out in public.
If you're it's country yer after then you need to talk to my brother who goes by the name of Moonshine Willy. Now he can rustle up a mean selection of anything that can be shoved into the category of country and western. From boot stompin take yer pardners bluegrass to cryin' in yer beer someone's shagged my dog and shot my wife miserable old country via that beautiful twang of honky tonk he's got it all, and he's not afraid to use it!
Anyway, enough about my brother. I've had the pleasure and/or honour of DJing at The Rocket Festival, Bust The Box, Ape-X, Innerfield parties, SchNEWS parties, Truck Festival (my favourite festival) and other places I can't remember, probably.
I am willing or able to play at weddings, festivals, charity football tournaments (in the bar where I don't have to watch the match), parties, clubs, riots etc, just send me a message.
And another thing. I have a portable soundsystem from which I can blast out unfeasibly good music for hours and hours just about anywhere I damn well please. Most recently used Glastonbury for various cheeky parties both before and after the "proper" music was being played. Thanks to everyone who joined on on the train tracks on the Thursday morning and in the rain on Monday morning. We HAD IT!Cheers!
Oh and also, I'm the luckiest man in the world, as I tell everyone when I get that special kind of drunk. Hats off and cheesy grins to all my friends.
