Film, short or long, I love films. I especially love GOOD horror. I'm not talking about that cheap crap like Friday the 13th or Nightmare on Elm Street. Stuff like Audition, Cigarette Burns from the Masters of Horror series, Hostle, The Shining, Wolf Creek and an Indie short titled "Oculus" by Mike Flanigan and another titled "Broken" by Alex Ferrari.
Music
Stuff to use in horror films. Atmospheric dramas in music. Some classical and Rob freakin' Zombie.
Movies
My short videos and films, in reverse order, most recent first. Hope you like a few of them. As always, many more on the way.
SPY vs SPY vs SPY
Created for Columbus, Ohio's very first 48 Hour Film Project. As Matt says, it has spies. Enjoy.
..
Matt Kite
Had a little impromptu fun the other night. Got with my good film friends and shot a film that was a test of hand-cranking one of my Bolex cameras.
..
NIN - Ghosts I:I
Also for the Ghosts online screenings from NIN by request of Mr. Reznor. Shot on 16mm Kodak Vision 250D and my Bolex H16.
Friends
Put together from some 8mm film stuff I shot at various times with some friends and put to music from NIN as part of the Ghosts contest.
..
NUMB3RS
Tossed together from leftover bits of 8mm and Super 8 films with a soundtrack by Moby (with permission) and some audio from clandestine spy radio "numbers" stations.
..
One Sided Conversation
Based on a snippet of random conversation posted on a BLOG website as a motivator to get artists thinking. This was shot with a Nikon D40 DSLR still camera and edited in Avid. With Natalie Lloyd as the woman and music by Mario Debuck.
The Waste
This is a sort of free-form stream of consciousness piece in a sort of 60s beatnik vein I suppose. The music sells it, donated by Mario Debuck of Belgium. Has a Noir feel to it, at least for me. Enjoy.
Note: Rated PG for language.
Elevator
Another short questioning the common precepts of religion and that you can rejoin a lost loved one. Premiered at Indie Club Columbus' October meeting.
Balanced
was shot as test footage for a Bolex H16 16mm film camera I had picked up from Ebay. I liked it so we used it in a simple tiny short.
Dislocation
This short deals with the idea that suicides don't get to go to heaven. Shot on Kodak Vision 250D Super8 film - subsequently damaged by the lab.
My Quiet Day
Shot on a Motorola e815 Cell Phone over several hours on the last day off work recovering from minor abdominal surgery. Hey, give a guy a camera and he's going to shoot something with it.
My Angels
Shot as test footage on Regular 8mm film with a 1947 three lens Sekonic windup movie camera.
The Lottery will be Televised
The State controls television and enforces daily drug "therapy" for all citizens. The government sponsored Lottery allows one lucky soul to escape each night.
Reindeer Murder
Sure that songs cute but after the old lady is run down, what does the family do about it? What if Santa had a NY mob mentality?
Memories of a Dream"
Shot as an experiment. Disconnected bits form a story of betrayal and possible revenge.
Track 11
If music can soothe the savage beast, can a it also do the opposite? A long forgotten song on an abandoned Russian military server.
Bent Rays
(playing on MTV Italy)
Something is destroying the world.
The outlook isn't good.
Cat Fight at OK and Corral
What happens when the tempers of 2 female assassins flare at a stop sign in the middle of nowhere?
Off the Radar
A short I did while recovering from shoulder surgery in 2005. Not my best piece. In fact, it's sort of embarrassing but here it is. Santa has amnesia.
..
Frame 37
(also playing on MTV Italy)
A pretty coed on a self portrait assignment finds out you can steal a soul with a camera - her own.
Secrets
Some people can live with their secrets.
Some can't.
Television
Two and a half men, 30 Rock, Rules of Engagement , , , yep, that's about it for TV.
Books
Too damn many to mention...123 Infinity by George Gamow, Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury, Dracula by Bram Stoker, The Search For 0 Point, The Penal Colony by Kafka, and a bunch more...
Heroes
David Lynch (hear enough about him yet?), John Cassavetes, Michael Nesmith (of the Monkeys), and more.
About me:
I am Sean McHenry, a television Engineer by trade of nearly 30 years (a damn long time) who finally broke out into writing, producing, directing and editing short videos and films. More later on all that. For now, you can visit my web site and watch my shorts. (hint, they're on the left and below)
You can read a blog blurb by Rob Hogan about Cat Fight at OK and Corral, one of my little shorts, here.

For some reason, MySpace won't allow a direct link to it.
Also, the very best expression of my feelings on filmmaking are spoken by Mr. Lynch himself. Hear it all here:
My pal Mike Flanagan has a new feature out on DVD. Looks great. Ordered my copy as soon as I heard about it. You can to. Go Here.
Oops. I did it again. While out shooting a 16mm film test with Natalie Lloyd in early August, I handed her my Super 8 film camera to play with. The following film is how I edited her footage into a short film piece. Natalie and I are collaborating on a few things to come so stay tuned. I call this one "The Last Stop".
About 3 months ago I got to help a friend shoot a fun piece called "Harrison Ford's Hero School". You can watch it right here, right now.
Not too long ago I shot a trailer for Kinetic Art Films. The Matriarch". Hit my real web site for the scoop, or, just watch it here. It turned out nice.
I also shot a short for a few friends of mine. It came out really nice. "Bus Stop". I like it.
Favorite new quote:
"What of it? If I die, I die. It will be no great loss to the world, and I am thoroughly bored with life. I am like a man yawning at a ball; the only reason he does not go home to bed is that his carriage has not arrived yet."
From the 1839 Novel, "A Hero of Our Time" by Mikhail Lermontov.
Who I'd like to meet: David Lynch, Rob Zombie, Ron Howard, Steven Spielberg, Rob Reiner, Udo Kier, Takashi Mikee, Quentin Tarantino, Robert Rodriguez, George Lucas, Rod Serling (deceased), Stanley Kubrick (deceased), Richard Matheson, Dennis Hopper, Christopher Walken, Mickey Rourke, Robert Blake, Michael Parks, Sheri Moon (Rob Zombies wife), Mike Flanagan, Alex Ferrari and so many many more.
Thank you. You know I was thrilled to work with you and the nice gang we had. I will download photos from the screening this weekend. Enjoy the holiday.
