Deep Burial was started 10 years ago. The idea was to make instrumental hip hop, making up for the fact that we didn't have Raekwon or Mobb Deep to rhyme on our beats by making the music more rugged and angular. To attempt this most of the digging for samples was done in the Punk/New Wave/Noise section. Whether the idea was achieved or not it resulted in a split 12" with Decal and an album on Ultramack called Blood Samples, the title of which was a phrase which sprang out of a Chino XL song and seemed to sum up the feel of the album.
The next couple of years were spent writing, digging and playing some live sets. It was early 1999. We were watching a lot of zombie movies. What better type of movie to watch in the middle of Celtic Tiger frenzy when the whole country turned into money munching zombies. Yes you, you fucker! Anyway enough politics, we decided to start work on an EP based on the films and started to dig for appropriate sounds and samples. It helped that our friend seemed to be involved in some bizarre underground zombie VHS ring and passed them all on to us in all their hissy glory. The EP came out in 2001 and was called the Undead.
Since then we've been digging for more samples and putting together the album we've just finished. It's called Black Music and we're prouder of this than anything else we've done.

Herv: "Not figuratively, but literally in love with Music..."
"Ireland's sexiest laptopper lands his latest mini-album on Cock Rock Disco! "Not figuratively, but literally in love with Music..." is a rave inspired experimental break-acid-core thrill ride of endless ideas and possibilities. Herv packs a lot into the 8 tracks; melodies evolve and twist, beats fracture and congeal and synths collide! It's exciting! But that's not all, it comes with 2 cd designs and a freakin A0 sized poster! Whoa! Can't beat the value in that!"
