YOUR COACHES ---------------------
Kelsey McDaniel - Head Junior Coach
Kelsey has been around the sport of rowing his entire life. His father Brian was the stroke seat for UBC, which was also the Canadian National Team at that time. Kelsey started rowing at Shawnigan Lake School in grade 9, and continued his athletic career into college at the University of Washington - where he helped his crews to top-3 performances at each trip to the IRA (national) Championship. As well, his younger brother Kip started rowing in high school and went on to lead his Harvard crew to a nearly flawless 4-year record, losing only twice. He is also currently a member of the Cambridge "Blue" Boat and the Canadian National Team.
Kelsey is relatively new to coaching, but managed to guide his 2006 crews to multiple highlight finishes, including a Gold Medal Performance at the 2006 Royal Canadian Henley Regatta.

Kate Janeway
Kate is a former DCRC athlete who comes back to us as a coach. During her high school years, she had a very successfull career, which led to a spot on the prestigious University of Victoria crew. Kate has extensive knowledge in the sport, and brings with her a racing background, which will undoubtably be harnessed by the athletes.

SPECIAL GUEST COACHES --------------------
Andy VanRuyven
We are extremely lucky to have Andy as a guest coach! Although he will not be at most practices, when he does it will be a great benefit for our athletes. Andy has had an extremely successful rowing career, culminating in a trip to the Olympic Games. Feel free to ask him questions, because he definately knows what he's talking about!
--------------------
Jill Trigg
Jill is currently one of Canada's top female scullers in the high school level, and has earned numerous titles along the way. The highlight would be becoming one of the VERY few athletes in history to earn 3 Gold Medals - each in a different boat - at the Royal Canadian Henley in one year (2006). Jill will be mostly coaching the younger (novice) crews, and her knowledge of the sport should be eaten up and used by our athletes!
All races 1500m (Brentwood-training course)
---each INDIVIDUAL is allowed 1 re-row. Not 1 per crew.
Races will be head-to-head; no time trials
All races use Black C2's
