DDE : THE CREATION
Although the New Orleans area has its quota of professional and competent variety, Top 40, and era-specific show bands, its heritage and 1970's pedigree of small venue, rock concert-type acts seemed to have gone extinct. No longer. Enter DEEP DOWN ENZO, developed as a direct result of the local music community's urging to form a tight, solid rock band that would reclaim the tiara and chalice of the Crescent City's rock limelight.
Drummer Shane (ex-Spectrum, Kolour et al) was approached by a former band member that had returned from Florida and talks ensued. After short deliberation, the two contacted Matt (guitarist; ex-Venetian Blinds, Le Metro) about completing the rhythm section. The trio then went on the hunt for a true front person... a vocal diva.
After several months of rehearsals, the departure of the first, then second bassist, and over one dozen vocalist auditions, DDE hit full stride upon the discovery of 22 yr. old vocal phenom Lindsey (ex-Cup of Tea / Baton Rouge) and new bassist Dee (ex-Sylvain Sylvain/New York Dolls, Iggy Pop, Ian Hunter).
With the quartet now complete, DDE has hit the clubs and event circles with their powerhouse, yet elegant rock performance, with the all-inclusive acknowledgment from show attendees, music community friends/peers and local critics alike voicing a unified, "thumbs up" for this hot new act. After just their first show, the band wowwed pundits and critics, showing immediate promise via their inherited bloodline, boasting a potent catalog of incendiary rock B-side selections. Deftly moving from Jimi Hendrix to Garbage, Concrete Blonde to Led Zeppelin, and Pat Benatar to Paramore, DDE proves that hip hop beats and sampling are better left to others, especially when the group has the ability to accurately perform in this genre. They've resuscitated the small rock show and are drawing larger crowds with performances boasting swagger, sweat and energy.
When an injection of real rock is what you need to get up, there's a new way to get down ... Deep Down Enzo.
