Deep Sugar…The party, the sound, the record label. The story began nearly five years ago when international dance music recording artist Ultra Nate’ and key friends, artists & dj’s hailing from Baltimore made a commitment to give something back to the scene and keep it thriving when they decided to start the Deep Sugar parties. Showcasing Baltimore resident DJ’s, along with world renown guest DJ’s and performing artist. Past performances have included Jody Watley, Tony Humphries, DJ Spen, SuSu Bobien, DJ Marley Marl, Terry Hunter, Martha Wash, CeCe Peniston, Louie Vega, Jocelyn Brown, Mr. V, Barbara Tucker, Kathy Sledge, Crystal Waters, Colton Ford, Quentin Harris, Inaya Day and Kevin Aviance just to name a few. The Deep Sugar sound is characterized by a blend of soulful house with dance and disco classics thrown in and gives a nod to the harder techy sounds of Europe. A formula that has kept Sugar's party goers feet rooted to the dance floor remembering the past and looking towards the future. Taking place every 2nd Saturday of the month at The Paradox in Baltimore, one of the East Coast's premier venues. It's the goal of Deep Sugar founders to create a world renown, marquis dance party that follows in the footsteps of Paradise Garage, Zanzibar, The Warehouse, Shelter and Body & Soul.
The next step in the evolution of Deep Sugar was the formation of the Deep Sugar Music label imprint. Under the umbrella of venerable dance label Strictly Rhythm Records…Deep Sugar now establishes itself as a force in the community with acts such as R&B/Dance Diva Sybil, as well as up and coming talents Jada, Lisa Mack and DJ Jerome Hicks. Artist based projects promise solid songwriting, top notch production and remixing by Teddy Douglas (Basement Boys a la Crystal Waters), New York wunderkind DJ Spinna, Chicago’s Terry Hunter and many others. Deep Sugar Music strives for the same excellence and impact on the dance world as Strictly Rhythm, Salsoul and Westend Records have had in the past. Deep Sugar forges ahead into the new world of music with a vision, a dream and plenty of heart and soul.
