   About Deep Tone Records
BAND WEBSITES:
Grupo los Santos
Michel Gentile/Tony Romano
Paul Carlon Octet
McCarron Brothers

Formed in 2006, Deep Tone is an indie label representing New York City artists with a jazz/latin/world bent.

Deep Tone has five releases out so far:

The Paul Carlon Octet: Other Tongues (DT 001)

Grupo los Santos: Lo Que Somos Lo Que Sea (DT002)

Michel Gentile and Tony Romano: Flesh and Steel (DT 003)

The Paul Carlon Octet: Roots Propaganda (DT 004)

The McCarron Brothers: Way Down in Brooklyn (DT 005)

Review of Romano/Gentile "Flesh and Steel" on Jazzreview.com:

"Jazz guitarist Tony Romano provides the rhythmic markings for flutist Michel Gentile to quilt his mellifluous patterns and soaring scores on the duo’s latest release, Flesh And Steel. The flute is like putty in Gentile’s hands as he shapes the notes into beautifully sculpted images, and Romano plays the guitar like it is the partner who firmly holds the dancing notes of Gentile’s flute."

Review of the Paul Carlon Octet "Roots Propaganda" on Global Groove Connection:

"There's a contagious, warm vintage feel resonating from this recording that I found to be very inviting. Maybe it's Carlon's arranging approach, reminiscent of the way Duke Ellington would write parts to fit the individual musical nuances of each member in his big band. On Roots Propaganda distinct elements meld into a harmonious whole. There's also a spiritual quality to some of the tracks, a few of which are even named after Yoruba deities from the Afro-Cuban pantheon, like "Ochun," in honor of the orisha of love, midway through the album."

Review of Grupo los Santos "Lo Que Somos" on Philly.com:

"The New York City-based Grupo Los Santos captures Cuban and Brazilian rhythms in the context of a jazz quartet. It's amazing how much juice they generate with acoustic instruments at low decibels. The CD, released a few months ago, ranges from Brazilian choro, a samba cousin, to a Cuban jam session. The opening "Rumba in the Bronx" by drummer William "Beaver" Bausch is a winning, minor-keyed ditty that quickly stamps this group as worth hearing."
