Sounds Like
Sounds like sexy music. Have a listen to "Whatcha Thinkin' Of", a song from our new album "Break This Record" recorded in Memphis, TN.
Deering and Down pair sturdy, sweet female vocals with clang-and-twang guitar textures. Reminiscent of Maria Muldaur and Amos Garrett, one can imagine the strings of Ike Turner, Keith Richards, and Hubert Sumlin, paired with the rich vocals of Brenda Lee, Lou Ann Barton, and Margo Timmins.
Had Deering and Down only been looking for the most expedient route to stardom, they most likely would have never setup headquarters in a small town in Alaska.
As fate would have it, at the age of sixteen, British Columbia-born Lahna Deering found her way up north, where she met and befriended rock and roll journeyman Rev Neil Down. Based in the town of 300 residents, Deering, then at the age of 19, and Down wrapped up a winter’s worth of work even further north at the renowned Rainbow Studios in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory. There they recorded their first album together, "Coupe de Villa".
The merging of Deering’s strong “belt-it-out” voice, and Down's "left of center" guitar playing was just the beginning of their creative kinship.
The compatibility of these two sonic seamsters cannot be denied. Deering and Down have been focused and diligent in their musical mission.
Having gigged extensively as a duo or with full band in Alaska, Canada, Switzerland and Ireland, the pair recently relocated to the Lower 48. They have chosen Memphis, Tennessee as their new base and are presently rocking their way around the great North American Continent!

oh darn! You are playing in Seattle and I..m not there to see it! I..ll send some of my friends =) I would love to see you play again...Hope you are well! megan
Most of you Memphis folks know and love our good buddy Don Perry, photographer extraordinaire. Well, next Friday, 2/27, Don will be having a photo show at the Hi-Tone, and we'll be playing. I think the doors will open around 8 and you can come and check out Don's amazing pics, and even buy some of it. Don is doing really great work around town, documenting the music scene and the city of Memphis itself.
As usual, there's no opener. We'll start up around 10-ish, but get there before that so you can enjoy Don's photos without a couple of Fenders squawling in your ears.
The cover is - you guessed it - five bucks. See ya there!
Man I miss you two!! I can't stop playing your music. Almost busted into tears today! Hope you can make it for the show in August! Sending you Love and a Big Hug Lisa...
