Hailing from Ocean Beach in San Diego, Defamation League started in 2004. Founding members Nick Sleezin (Nick Steckle), Khemical Ali (Chaz Lomack), and Dune Murderous (Zachary Mckay) may have had hugely different personalities, but they all shared a passion for hip hop music which drove them to form the League. Def League started to gain notice with their unique style of genre-blending rap which they coined "Grit-Hop".
2006 brought many successes such as a feature story on Fox 11 news, a feature story in Hustler Magazine, and the award for Best Hip-Hop Group at the San Diego Music Awards. 2007 saw more success with the release of their second album, "League of the Living Dead". Shortly after, they had generated enough hype for an appearance on the MTV up and coming artists show "On The Rise". In 2008 Defamation League member Khemical Ali (Chaz Lomack) was arrested in the DEA drug sting "Operation Sudden Fall" and band member Dune Murderous (Zachary McKay) left the group to focus on his writing career. With time to mature a bit and reflect on the past few years, the boys are back with a new line-up and pumping out songs that are more versatile and meaningful than anything they have put out to date.
Today Defamation League consists of Nick Sleezin (Guitar / Vocals), Khemical Ali (MC), Dusty Best (Guitar / Synth / Vocals), Remy (Bass), Zoomer B/Zachary Barrett (Drums) and DJ Skybeatz (Skylar Lutes).
They are currently playing around San Diego and working on the release of their third album, tentatively titled "No Sympathy".
