   Campaign to Defeat Fees's Blurbs
About me:
Education is being marketised - we need to fight back. Education should be a right, not a privilege. The introduction and increase in fees in the UK is leading to university education only for the privileged rich kids. Everyone else goes without or gets into a no win situation of huge debt for the rest of their natural life. How big is your at student debt going to be when you leave college? Leave me your comments below estimating your debt level - I want to know! And sign my petition - since the launch in December 2006 of the no fees petition hundreds have signed and it's not just students - trade unionists have also signed the petition from Unison, CWU, USDAW, T&G and the UCU. Students all around the world have sent messages of solidarity to the campaign from India, the United States, the Netherlands and Mexico.

BUILD THE CAMPAIGN TO DEFEAT FEES

  • FIGHT FOR FREE EDUCATION
  • No to cuts and closures & no to privatisation
  • NO FEES! For free, high quality, publicly funded education as a right for all
  • No to the introduction of fees in Scotland and Wales
  • Write off all student debt
  • End the cuts and stop the closures
  • For all private profiteers out of education and massive investment into education.
  • Build a mass campaign to defeat fees starting with local protests, meetings and demonstrations and democratically involving university and college students, the trade unions and everyone who stands for free education.
  • For the NUS to organise and build support for a second national demonstration on a weekday

The olympic fiasco is on a TV near you soon

Don’t go to Beijing

Burning bright
We’re expected to embrace
The Beijing flame
Human rights
Are denied
So they can play their stupid games

But we couldn’t go to Moscow
Because the Commies were bad guys
But now they want to buy Nike
And they can sell us cheap textiles
And depress all dissent
And that is the democracy we like

Sweat Shop labour
To make the toys
Stamped with Olympic pride
Crimes of poverty
In a rich nation
Hidden from our eyes

But we don’t delve too deeply
Because we need the market
Don’t want to lose our profits
Or even our position
We’ve got to keep on creaming
That is the democracy
That is the democracy
Keep our nation rich and free
That is the democracy we like

Don’t go to Beijing
Nobody’s going to Beijing

Kids are killing their friends and themselves in our wonderful western democracies - how the hell did this come to pass

Cold Dead Hands

He had murder in mind
When he walked through the door
Guitar case full of toys
From a convenience store

If tomorrow's so bright
Why is his head full of pain
It's the American dream
It's going to shoot your children down
Again and again

He's a high school killer
America's furture
He's a high school killer
From a child to a butcher
You've got to take it
From his cold dead hands

Well he was Rambo Stallone
And Charlton Heston in black
Terminator Schwarzenegger
But he won't be coming back
He will not be back

From Columbine
Down to North Illinios
Your country's murdering
Your Pride and Joy
The disllusionment and alienation
The fear and pain in your fuck up nation

SILENT BUT DEADLY.
Did you know that farmed animals produce more greenhouse gas emissions (18%) than the world's entire transport system (13.5%)? Or that nitrous oxide from animal manure is around 300 times as damaging to the climate as carbon dioxide? Or that methane ( cow and sheep farts/burps to you and me) has 23 times the global warming impact of carbon dioxide?
MAKES YOU THINK DOESN'T IT?
The only genuine way to cut down these harmful emissions is to stop eating meat. To find out more visit www. vegsoc. org/environment , or order your free booklet on 0161 925 2000, green@vegsoc.org.
It's not just a lot of hot air.

Season Greetings from statesofunrest
They don’t know it’s Christmas
It’s not Christmas in the Third World and they don’t care
They’re too busy being raped by our capitalist nightmare
A million fingers scrape about in the rubble
So we can feel secure in our privileged bubble
They don’t need a jolly Santa no Coca Cola lie
Our fat celebration’s just a spit in their eye
It’s not a happy Christmas it’s not peace and goodwill
It’s just another year of death capital gain capital kill
Rampant disease massive Aids culture
World banks hover like blood lust vultures
Centuries of depravity from civilisations
Carving up the riches of innocent nations
So stuff your belly fat let the drinks run free
Cos Africa is dying under a Joshua tree
Another freezing starry night another barren landscape
Another fat hand grabbing at a Christmas cake
They don’t know it’s Christmas don’t defend the lie
Don’t pretend to feed the world while you watch them die
There’s no baby in a cradle but there are thousands in graves
Starved to death by the greed of the rich and depraved
It’s not a happy Christmas it’s not peace and goodwill
It’s just another year of death capital gain capital kill
It’s not a happy Christmas it’s not peace and goodwill
It’s just another year of death capital gain capital kill

"A SANE REVOLUTION" - D.H.LAWRENCE

If you make a revolution, make it for fun,
don't make it in ghastly seriousness,
don't do it in deadly earnest,
do it for fun.

Don't do it just because you hate people,
do it just to spit in their eye.

Don't do it for the money,
do it and be damned to the money.

Don't do it for equality,
do it because we've got too much equality
and it would be fun to upset the apple-cart
and see which ways the apples would go a-rolling.

Don't do it for the working classes.
Do it so we can of all us be little aristocracies on our own
and kick our heels like jolly escaped asses.

Don't do it, anyhow, for international Labour.
Labour is the one thing a man has had too much of.
Let's abolish labour, let's have done with labouring!
WORK CAN BE FUN, SO LET'S ENJOY IT; THEN IT'S NOT LABOUR.
LET'S HAVE IT SO! LET'S MAKE A REVOLUTION FOR FUN!

....

LABOUR OF LOVE!!!

Campaign to Defeat Fees

On February 22nd 2007, students at over 50 Universities came together to demonstrate against top up fees.
The Vice Chancellors of many universities are asking for the cap on top-up fees to be lifted. This could result in students paying over £6000 or £10000 per a year.

Below:
The University of Southampton and Southampton Solent University had a very successful demonstration, with many students showing their support for the campaign. They both collected over 300 signatures, which is an excellent start. Socialist Students presented the Vice Chancellor of Southampton University, with a debt cheque for £15,000 (Average individual student debt for this year)

Hey people if you are still looking for ideas for the 22nd then here’s some thing simple,
http://www.soton.ac.uk/~marxists/Images/chequelg.jpg
and
http://www.soton.ac.uk/~marxists/Images/chequesm.jpg

We get a VERY good response using them, you can use them as a petition, or with the larger one you can print it as a giant cheque and award it to some one like your VC.

At City College Manchester they are threating student with the baliff, for delayed course fees.
They would never have got away with this in the past when we built a fighting Student union (Miitant now Socialist party). The student dont have a union there now so the management are getting away with these intimidating tactics.
Lynn Worthington, ex Sabbatical City College Manchaester.
