Ah yes and now it is here. I move in to an apartment complex on the cap hill-CD boundry. Ask over and over about the area before moving in. Of course NOTHING is said about redevelopment plans. Here is what I found hanging up in the lobby today.

FYI

After years of fluctuating plans and timelines, it's time to
re-engage on Sound Transit and how it will impact all of our
lives. This issue goes far beyond Broadway and touches us in the
Pike/Pine,12th Avenue, and Squire Park neighborhoods as well.

See the attached map - for 8 years, significant portions of
Broadway, Nagle Place, John Street, and Denny will be a major
construction zone. While this is going on, businesses will be
relocated, buildings will be demolished, and trucks, noise, and
dust will be part of our daily life. When construction is
completed, what should the property over the station areas look
like? What kinds of retail space do we need? Should the housing
above be rental, condo, affordable, market rate?

The Capitol Hill Stewardship Council and Chamber of Commerce have
invited Sound Transit to present their updated plans and it's time
for all of us to comment. Strong attendance is vital for Sound
Transit to hear from our community.

See the invitation below from the Chamber and Stewardship Council.
And bring your friends and family members to the meeting next
Tuesday.

6:00 - 8:00 PM

Seattle Central Community College Room 1110

SOUND TRANSIT CAPITOL HILL STATION UPDATE

The Capitol Hill Chamber of Commerce and the Capitol Hill Neighborhood
Plan Stewardship Council are hosting a meeting regarding the planned
Capitol Hill station for Sound Transit's regional light rail. Sound
Transit will present its current plans for the station entrances,
property acquisition and relocation, and construction timeline. The
Chamber and Stewardship Council will outline community driven
principles for the station, related construction impacts, and
subsequent redevelopment.

In late 2006, the Sound Transit Board authorized work to design and
construct the "University Link" which extends light rail from Downtown
to the University of Washington in

URGENT: City Council killing Seattle Nightlife today!

I've been reading the Press Release and Briefing Paper (see below links) and this is outrageous.

Get everyone you can to attend this meeting TONIGHT. If you enjoy attending or work in music venues, bars, restaurants you MUST make your voice heard.

I'll see you there.

Attend the June 4th public hearing, it begins at 5:30. Get there early to sign up! This hearing is in the City Council Chambers on the 2nd floor of City Hall located at 600 - 4th Ave downtown.

Subject: URGENT - City Council Continues Mayor's attack on Nightlife

***PLEASE RESPOND AND FORWARD TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS***

Yesterday City Councilmember’s Sally Clark and Jan Drago issued a press release and briefing paper outlining a series of proposals in response to the Mayor’s proposed nightlife regulations. The press release is available at http://seattlenma.org/downloads/clark_release and the briefing paper at http://seattlenma.org/downloads/clark_brief

The two councilmembers are proposing a series of regulation that if taken together, could be for more egregious and anti-nightlife than what the Mayor originally proposed. This action signifies that Clark, head of the City Council committee overseeing the Mayor's proposal, is caving to pressure from the Mayor and Seattle Police. The new ordinance does the following:

- Embraces the mayor’s proposal of creating a new special "nightlife license" which would be used to close down clubs at the discretion of the city. The new language we haven't seen yet supposedly defines nightclubs based on entertainment - very similar to the unconstitutional Added Activities Ordinance.

- Significantly increases fines for noise violations from $500 up to $6,000 per violation with no warning.

- Amends the current Ma

Condo Expo was last weekend.

What I would like to do is look into preservation of certain buildings around here before they get marked for tear down and condos. From what I have read it seems that people of Ballard got their shit together and has saved themselves from condos and big ugly signs. Anyone interested in looking into that approach with me?
I love putting up signs and stickers and hissing at 'condo holes' as I pass them by but that isn't helping much. Is anyone currently doing anything beyond that which we should all know about so we can help out??

I'm all for helping out in any way I can...I love my hood and can't think of a better use for my spare time then saving it...

Also, I think it could be helpful in organizing things if we have a group site so there are forums and all that jazz.

Message me if it pleases you!

Seattle Condo Expo
May 19th and 20th at the Westin Hotel

1900 5th Avenue
Seattle, Washington 98101

Seem's like everybody wants to buy their T-shirt, slam some stickers around, bitch amongst themselves, and say they did their part. I hope to god I'm wrong.

Where's the outrage?! Where's the anger?! Am I nuts? I don't even live in Capital Hill and I'm fucking mad as hell about this shit. I know I can't be the only one. Some of my favorite clubs and stores are going be destroyed by a bunch of moneyed bastards, and maybe I can't stop them, but I'm sure as hell going to make some noise, and make them damn uncomfortable.

If I can get at least one person to go with, I will picket this thing, get in some people's faces, and maybe get some public attention to what's going on.

Message me if you're interested! I want to head down on Sunday the 20th. Make some signs, get seen, get our message across. If I can get at least one person to go with me I will go!

LET'S DO SOMETHING REAL!
