DEFENDERS OF GOD BIO
Defenders of God were formed by the direction of God, to minister through hip hop music in 1998. Rafael Perez aka DaHealer was touch by God and began writing and producing. One year later he met Anthony Cruz aka Priceless. Both without any prior experience in rhyming, formed D.O.G. With their faith and determination they have minister in different churches and have taken part in evangelistic events through out the New York tri-state areas. Their lyrics are Christ center, which bring powerful messages of salvation and encouragement to all. Each message comes from personal experience and every day life.
D.O.G moved from New York to Connecticut in April 2001 by the direction of God. It was a big step but they were willing and ready to start something new in Connecticut. Pastor TC Brantley from Restoration Springs in Waterbury, CT gave them their first chance to minister through hip hop in his church. Pastor TC Brantley didn't believe in Christian hip hop and now is one of their biggest supporter. This started a chain of other pastors inviting them to minister in their churches. Here are some of the places that D.O.G have minister. Naugatuck Community College, Finalist in the RPH Records (Incense) 2003 in New Jersey, Finalist in the McDonald's Gospel fest in 2004 and 2005 in The Theater at Madison Square Garden which feat. artists like Donnie McClurkin, Hezekiah Walker, Byron Cage, Vickie Winans, Cissy Houston, and Aretha Franklin. D.O.G also have appeared on Radio stations and TV shows like news 12 Connecticut with Cissy Houston as a feat. guess. In 2007 Antoine L. Wilson aka twon joined D.O.G, bringing a different favor to the group.
D.O.G has a passion to reach and touch the unsaved and God's people with the anointing of Christian hip hop that's directed by the Holy Spirit. They are unique and sound different from other artists but this is all for God's Glory. (We all have a different anointing and gifts and they don't believe in the competition spirits that has affected the body of Christ. Some of us are called to reach different types of people that's why we are called the body there are many members with one purpose salvation.) Their rhymes are simple and to the point everyone can relate to them, no matter age or gender. D.O.G is a group driven to make a different in this World.
