Dog Pack Attacks Gator In Florida

At times nature can be cruel, but there is also a raw beauty, and even a certain justice manifested within that cruelty.

The alligator, one of the oldest and ultimate predators, normally considered the 'apex predator', can still fall victim to implemented 'team work' strategy, made possible due to the tight knit social structure and 'survival of the pack mentality' bred into the canines.

See the remarkable photograph below courtesy of Nature Magazine.

Note that the Alpha dog has a muzzle hold on the gator preventing it from breathing, while another dog has a hold on the tail to keep it from thrashing. The third dog attacks the soft underbelly of the gator.

Not for the squeamish

I made my first video slideshow and wanted to share it with you. The musician (Elizabeth Ann Middleton) is one I found through MySpace, and she generously let me use her music to set to my images. Visit her MySpace page here - http://www.myspace.com/pianorama - she's fantastic! :-)

This way a message from Wolf.

Oh hear our cries
In the dark of the night...
Our head held high
Singing songs of our plight...
You kill us for sport... for fun... and for fear
Hear our cries for your mercy
Feel our sadness and tears...
We have never taken life from humankind
But your heartfelt mercy is nowhere to find...
If you could only imagine
The pain that we feel...
You would never consider
Making our misery so real...
We have feelings and we love
For our hearts are true
Hear our cries in the night...
Hear our song to you...

- I hope and pray the wolves will be saved.

If I could catch a rainbow
I would do it just for you
and share with you its beauty
On the days you're feeling blue.

If I could build a mountain
You could call your very own;
A place to find serenity,
A place to be alone.

If I could take your troubles
I would toss them in the sea,
But all these things I'm finding
are impossible for me.

I cannot build a mountain
Or catch a rainbow fair,
But let me be what I know best,
A friend who's always there.

Good project on a Autumn afternoon ~ Love Lynn ©

We all have this deep-rooted fascination with the wild. It's as simple as feeding squirrels and pigeons on a park bench for some people.

SQUIRREL COOKIES OR “NUT BALLS”…YUM! Another thing you can do is make “squirrel cookies”. They’re filling for the squirrels. Bags of sunflower seed, peanuts, and corn, hazelnut, pecan, or walnut pieces. Soft, plain suet and peanut butter to shape balls.

Roll the dough into small balls about the size of a walnut, or into a cookie form.  Roll into some nuts or sunflower seeds.  Freeze well .  Squirrels won’t eat it if it’s mushy.

Squirrels can often survive quite well on their own if we have created an ecologically diverse yet well-balanced environment for them to live in. BY putting nuts outside in the winter months can be a life saver to some creatures. Squirrels will also eat apples.
