About Degreeº

Degreeº Coming from the aesthetic of baggy pants and fat laces I became disillusioned with the gangsta sound of early 90's Hip Hop and turned to the burgeoning sound of jungle / drum and bass. If hip hop discovered the break; drum and bass refined, redefined and reshaped it. Initially armed with a beat up boom box, which could play both tape decks simultaneously I set about teaching myself the fundamentals of beat science. Decks, records and practice consumed the bulk of my spare time when the limits of analogue experimentation had been reached. Towards the end of the nineties and onward I met up with the Fluid drum and bass crew in Cork, playing Deja Voodoos, the Isobar, Sir Henry's, Radio Friendly e.t.c. "The Chamber" drum and bass show run by the Fluid Crew founder members started playing my early productions, which I had cut on dubplate at the legendary cutting house "Music House" in London. Around 2001 I moved to Dublin to study music technology and refine my skills, doing tape operating sessions and recording up-and-coming bands. One demo I recorded was for a band called "Silence Jack" who won an all-Ireland battle of the bands comp, entered with the demo.
