Bio:
Past David Hull’s outer “rocker” persona you may stumble onto a keyboardist playing cerebral improvised jazz, or you may find a bass guitarist playing an uncharacteristic piece of classical music for the instrument. Listeners have called him a prodigy and an innovator, and even likened him to Mozart.
Between the ages of 3 and 14 David had performed at dozens of jazz festivals across North America and recorded six albums. By the age of 17 he’d toured Europe, played for audiences in the thousands and won numerous competitions and scholarships for piano, trumpet and bass performance.
When David came of age he moved to Paris with only a bass guitar and spent months in solitary cultivation, ripening a unique approach to songwriting featuring bass guitar, vocals and keyboard. When he returned home to California David was armed with a distinct left-of-center style to apply to a his collection of instrumental skills.
Now 23, David has caught the attention of online audiences as a solo artist and with his band Flywright, amassing nearly a million video plays and thousands of downloads from fans across the world. Whether he’s performing on stage, on record or online, most audiences regard David as a talented multi-instrumentalist. However, slightly beyond the rocker appearance is a subtle hint of a lower key persona; that of a peculiar, yet thoughtful musical raconteur.
