| About Deheb |
Deheb (Prononced «Day-Hab»), grew up in France. He started with music at the age of 8 listening every saturday vynils from stevie Wonder or Micheal Jackson that his father was playing or during the long road trip to go to Morrocco where he is originally from.
The second striking fact in his life was discovering the first rap videos on videocassette with his brother , he rapidly became a fan of Public Enemy and De La Soul especially.
Deheb started deejaying in 1997, he made his first mixtape “La chronique” (the chronic) in 2001 mainly made of his original remixes followed by a compilation called “Back to the Break” with b-boy Bonz in 2004, a mix cd for b-boys and dj’s with soul-funk / old school rap. Then came the french critically acclaimed “Lexxfiles” mix album with rapper Lexxcoop in 2005 .
The French dj started then to make beats more regularly around 2004 defining his New York sound with a huge funky influence. “Top of the block pt.2” by Apani ft.Big Noyd has been a big turn out to his career in 2006 and that’s when he started making beats for the new york scene.
He established himself working with mc’s like Apani, Shabaam Sahdeeq, Emilio Rojas or Dynas. Deheb got recently recognised and encouraged by artists such as Pharoahe Monch or DJ Spinna, he also opened for acts like Jazzy Jeff or DJ Premier.
2008 is definitely only the beginning of a long story and hopefully 2009 a revelation to the eyes of a larger public.
Currently Deheb keeps producing working for more projects and on his first producer album with a lot of your favorite rappers on it! Stay tuned for more!
