Part hard rock, part gothic, part industrial, all original... Deja Vudoo is a female-fronted band from Harrisburg, PA, whose music projects a raw and infectious energy that takes first-time listeners by surprise.
Deja Vudoo's music is heavy and eclectic, the lyrics are insightful and often graphic, speaking of the horrors of the human animal.
Reuniting four musicians, Deja Vudoo is their new vision. With the addition of a fifth member on the keys, their sound began to evolve, giving their hard rock sound the gothic and industrial edge you now hear. Destined to be among the greatest undiscovered bands of this age, Deja Vudoo is ready to take their rightful place in the independent music scene.
With the guidance of producer Jason Rubal, at Seventh Wave Studio, Deja Vudoo's debut full length album, Scratching The Surface, has been receiving a lot of attention and was recently named Best New Album at the 717 Music Awards. Deja Vudoo was voted Best New Band in the Central PA Music Awards, presented by HBG Online. Thank you to everyone who helped make these awards possible.
Several songs from the debut album have been featured in a full length indie film which has not yet been released. Anyone involved in film or tv interested in using our music, please contact RockDiva & SugarDaddy Publishing.

What people are saying about us and Scratching The Surface...
* Sherri Mullen - RockDiva & SugarDaddy Publishing - "Passionate/powerful vocals, clever lyrics, intricate harmonies, and brilliant musical arrangements, make this is one of the finest debut albums I have ever heard!! Deja Vudoo...your time is NOW!!"
* JP the Professor of Q94 FM in Altoona, PA - "After several formative years as an acoustic-geared act, Harrisburg’s Deja Vudoo came together into a full rock band entity that reunited several musicians from a past project. The group’s first full-length CD, Scratching the Surface, offers a powerful introduction to their unique sound and musical vision. The prominent flavor is hard, female-fronted modern rock blended with slight gothic and techno flourishes, often incorporating dark themes and religious innuendo. The group’s centerpiece, charismatic singer Tina Marie, belts out a potent, rangeful voice as she toes the fine line between sanity and insanity, and explores the dark crevices of her heart and soul. Tina is often backed by a wall of metallic sound, defined by battering ram beats and tribal-geared rhythms from drummer Tony Pichler, weighty and taut bass lines from Michael Alan, and rigid riffage from guitarist Michael Nott; fleshed out and colored by Anthony Reigle’s additional guitar and keyboard fills. Out of a twisted church choir-like intro, the thunderous “Your God” sets the album’s dark and disquieting tone; with Tina brazenly challenging the validity of a higher power. She questions her own reality on “Real to Me,” and teeters between salvation and damnation on the volatile “Making Angels Cry.” Other tracks find Tina pondering issues about her mind and soul, such as the edgy “Dreamin,’” the sullen “Numb” (featuring guest cellist Ajay Cheney) and “Scapegoat;” while spirits, souls and wills struggle for control in the lyrics of songs like “Whisper,” the acidic and industrial “Revenge,” the concussive title track “Scratching the Surface” and “Piece by Piece,” and “Immortal.” The album is mostly cohesive and flows along consistently, with the sole exception of the keyboard-underscored rocker “Addicted,” which sounds more upbeat and out of place in the context of the rest of the album. Produced, recorded, mixed and engineered by Jason Rubal and recorded at Seventh Wave Studio in Harrisburg, the album is cleverly crafted and arranged; utilizing vocal layering and harmonies, and timely digital effects and samples to enhance the songs’ tension, release and turbulent mood swings. While the mix is often busy, it’s balanced and clear, with everything distinct and audible. Deja Vudoo’s Scratching the Surface is a bold, dynamic and focused debut that provides a compelling, action-packed listen."
* "Crazy John" for HBG Online - "...Deja Vudoo’s sound is an original mixture of hard rock, gothic, and industrial music, that projects a raw aggressive energy that reaches out and grabs you in it’s talons. It is a heavy while insightful album that delves into the soul of man. If you like passionate, and powerful music pick up this debut album."
* Jerry Aphes of Unsung Music Mag - "... it's refreshing to hear strong female vocals singing music usually reserved for men and not singing about the stereotypical played out "girl shit"... I was very impressed at how this album, Scratching the Surface fit's together. It's seems that the band has drawn influences from across the broad spectrum that is rock. Elements of everything from Nirvana to Tool can be heard in the 14 tracks on this album. The overall ambiance is ominous and powerful with choruses that seem made to sing along with. "Whisper" is by far the best track on the album, the groove is so cool. The verses are dark and slink with this great eerie vibe followed by heavy and powerful choruses that fit perfectly. I really couldn't imagine this song, or any other on this album being sung by anyone else. Then, about three quarters of the way through the album one track just completely sticks out. You know that surprise you get when you turn on the bathroom light in the middle of the night to take a piss? It's an immediate recoil as your eye's say what the f! That was my first reaction to track 10 "Addiction". Don't get my wrong it's a great tune it's just so different from the rest of the album. Blue's southern rock, there was even some keyboard action going on there. The Allman brothers got a sister! Overall this album is really good, creative and clever without being overly complicated, a good buy for any rock fan."
* Jason Rubal, Producer - Seventh Wave Studio - "...let me say that every moment with all of you was an absolute pleasure. I will work with any of you on any project at any time."
* Paul Autry (Spotlight) - "Deja Vudoo's current release, 'Scratching The Surface', is an exceptionally strong album that's a combination of heavy rock, gothic and industrial and...ah, forget the reviews...just give it a listen and I guarantee it will blow you away. This has my vote for album of the year, it's as simple as that. No matter what people, myself included, will say about this album, it won't do it justice. The only way you will really appreciate just how good this release really is...you have to hear it for yourself, man. You have to feel this release and, believe me, feel it you will. One listen and it will become part of your soul. Seriously, it's that damn good. It's a really well thought out release."
* m3rcury of Morbid Soul.com - "I saw these guys... and I was... blown away. Rock, metal, alternative with a dark gothic undertone, Deja Vudoo mix it all together and take you on one hell of a ride. Tina Marie''s vocals are absolutely haunting and powerful at the same time, while the rest of the band was simultaneously amusing and perfect. The band is the perfect combination of thundering heaviness and eerie beauty that you just have to hear it to understand."
* Rachel Rocks of the PA Musician Magazine (in the July '07 issue) - "Deja Vudoo really amazed me. Tina Marie's voice is amazing and all the guys back her up magnificently... These guys just went crazy from one song to the next. They really had me amazed by their original talent."
