The music is quite dark and tense with ambient atmospheres, sympathetic cellos, aching vocals, and beautiful saxophone work. The ideal listening environment would be a darkened room with candle light. Quite gothic sounding and yet modern might describe their first album. Their current work in progress has a more pagan and disturbing sound.
Originally working within an outfit producing urban psychedelic concept music, Dave and Nivek decided to focus exploring their own areas of interest. After spending some time working on psychedelic, electronic based concept material, both members began to notice a joint interest in experimental music. They began writing in 2006 and produced their first album, "memento mori", before the end of the year. Dave and Nivek describe this project as an attempt to produce music that does not lie within the mainstream and which is driven by atmosphere. The first effort is a tense, dark, filmic offering which seems to become more beautiful as it progresses. i...deviant have already started work on their next album which promises to be a much more aggressive and strange piece of work.
