About me:
I'm Kim aka de la Haye.. Originally from windy Wellington in Noo Zulund.. When I was 18 I packed my bags and headed to Brisbane on my own - for a 2 month holiday that somehow became 9 years.. I was introduced to jungle/drum'n'bass when I was 15 and 12 years on I still can't get enough of it! I've been DJ'ing and promoting events here for the past 7 years.. Also mix other styles like old school hiphop, funk, glitch, dubstep, dub and various other bass heavy broken beats.. Currently learning the basics of Logic, hopefully I'll have something to post up soon!

BIO.. ::
New Zealand born and raised Kim de la Haye aka DJ de la Haye is one of the most hardworking and energetic members of the Brisbane Drum'n'Bass scene. Having grown up in Wellington NZ, Kim's tireless work in the community has been a breath of fresh air since moving to Australia in 2000. With track selection, mixing, and a smile that sets any dancefloor ablaze, de la Haye is one of Brisbane's most booked DJ's and a leading promoter whose contributions to the community have been critical in the rising popularity of Brisvegas Drum'n'Bass.
Before discovering jungle in 1996, Kim’s early musical influences first started with her parents extensive record collection of artists such as Shirley Bassey, Dusty Springfield, The Cure, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Stevie Wonder, Queen and Bob Marley, and ranged from early 90s hiphop; de la Soul, Tribe Called Quest and Beastie Boys, to rock and punk bands; Rage Against the Machine, Faith No More, Tool, Pennywise, Radiohead, The Prodigy, and metal; Metallica and At The Gates. It is perhaps in this that we find the blue print for Kim's track selection in her Drum'n'Bass sets. You can never quite be certain what you can expect to hear when you listen to her play, all that can be said is that the sound will be varied without boundaries of styles, the mixing will be on point, and instantly the vibe and atmosphere of any party will be tangible. Whether its dub or ragga vibes, driving techstep darkness, complex drum choppage, or rolling liquid sounds, de la Haye's sets seamlessly embody the variety that is the very heart and soul of Drum'n'Bass and offers something to fans of each movement.
All of this has not gone unnoticed by promoters in Australia and NZ, as de la Haye continues to amass an impressive DJ resume. From being a regular at local Brisbane Drum'n'Bass monthlys such as Rude Bwoyz and Phat Albeats, Kim's cross-genre appeal has also seen her feature at many non Drum'n'Bass raves and festivals including Earthcore, ReAnimator, Mayhem, System 6, Hidden Festival, Island Time Reggae Festival and BBQ Breaks. She has also played all around Australia including numerous times in Sydney, Hobart and Melbourne, regularly in Byron Bay and has returned 3 times to New Zealand to play at gigs, including the massive 2006 Parachute Music Festival.
What cannot be understated, is Kim's massive contribution to promoting in the Brisbane Drum'n'Bass community. In 2003 she formed
Junglettes, an all-female DJ crew devoted to giving the ladies of Brisbane an outlet for their own style of Drum'n'Bass. She is also responsible for promoting the dub and jungle nights 'Ragga'd' and 'Offshoots of Reggae', as well as the hard Drum'n'Bass night 'Rukus' alongside
Speaker Wrath. Through both collabs with other local crews and on her own, de la Haye has hosted many international acts including
Chris.SU and SKC, Evol Intent, Calyx, Dom and Roland, Bailey, Roc Raida, Teebee, Black Sun Empire, Break and DJ Fierce, State of Mind, Phace, DJ Storm, D-Bridge, Dose,
Chris.SU and Jade, Sambora (Shapeshifter), The Upbeats, Spor and Ewun, DJ Hype, Daddy Earl and Xample, Nymfo, Noisia, Roni Size and Dynamite, Telemetrik, Logistics and Cyantific, TREi, Axiom, Keir and MC LowQui, Reso and Klute. This incredible and often solo effort has been a driving force and integral part in the growth of Drum'n'Bass in Brisbane.
Alongside Rudebwoyz, de la Haye manages the BrizBass mailing list and local Drum&Bass/Dubstep/Broken Beat website -
http://www.brizbass.com. She also hosts the BrizBass radio show on
Kranky Digital, every Sunday 3-5pm Brisbane time.
In 2008 as Brisbane Drum'n'Bass continues to push the envelope and break through the house dominated dance music scene you will see Kim de la Haye leading from the front. Whether it is DJ'ing or promoting, her never-ending devotion and contribution to the Brisbane Drum'n'Bass community will continue to be invaluable. de la Haye also hopes to incorporate some turntablism into her sets, as well as lending more time to producing. Given the accomplishments and talent shown so far, where she will go from here no one can predict.
International supports: Kenny Ken & MC Foxy, Ruffneck Souljah, High Contrast, Evol Intent,

Wicked liquid vibes out of Slovakia from Sigurt. Excellent break, underpinned by fat bassline and melodic effects. This is a sure fire winner that is getting dropped by Bukem, Fabio, Nu:Tone, and High Contrast.

"...it’s like Kid Strange and Urban Blitz from the Doctors of Madness at their most morose played Overhang Party, or a mogadon’d Peter Hammill jamming with Van Der Graaf’s Graham Smith. Elsewhere, the singular desolation is most reminiscent of the most down down moments of Nico’s THE MARBLE INDEX or even of Jesse Colin Young’s The Youngbloods at their most mercurial. But the Scrapes are still so original their music ultimately don’t sound like nobody but themselves." Julian Cope
