The venerable and long-standing Second Saturday Poets is still going strong! Its current location is Genelle's Cafe at 730 Market Street, Wilmington.
The reading starts at 5pm on the second Saturday of every month. Your lovely host is Joe Allen. For more information: http://2ndsaturdaypoets.com/
Due to my work schedule I haven't been to 2nd Saturday in a long time, but I can attest to the fact that it's always been a fun, quirky reading with a great mix of poets. Also, there's a bar. Well, there's always been a bar at the other locations. Joe and the organizers of Second Saturdays are saintly people, so I assume there is a bar at Genelle's, too. :P
This Saturday, October 12, is the 25th anniversary party for Second Saturdays. If you want a taste of the history of literary arts in Northern Delaware, this is the reading to go to. You won't be disappointed.
Our bridge has grown by one more stone ! Please allow me to introduce the fun inside the Slamophone …
It all started with the idea that SLAM is too live, too diverse, each syllable - unsellable, every ephemerical verse being too fierce to be coerced … Plus, this new cuisine needs no chef ! Tables are turning everywhere, and France cannot be left for deaf.
So with camera in hand, we've taken the country by storm; videalistic is the spirit, originality the norm. We started out with 50 vids, now we are up to 360, from Montreal down to Marseille, from Pointe-à-Pitre to Gai Paree.
Take any door and come on in. Be curious, you will be served : 360 clips around our way, 360 clicks around the word …
Delawhere Slam! Keep rockin' the scene, my friends. It was an honor to visit last month; thank you for being so generous. Check my new book by CLICKING THE IMAGE ABOVE to browse the text. Best to you,
