About Delay

Since 2002, this Pozuelo (Madrid) band has been trying to make themselves some space in Madrid's alternative music scene. Coming out of the Pozuelo Music School, Delay originally started as a band without many pretensions, but the will to go "further" made them start moving and playing in small clubs around Madrid, slowly making their repertoire grow, but always introducing one or two covers molded into their own style.

And what is their style? Although they are from Madrid, they can be easily included in that genre that is usually called "britrock", being their sound similar to that of Placebo, Radiohead, Feeder, Biffy Clyro, Cooper Temple Clause or My Vitriol, but introducing other influences of each band member, from sixties/seventies garage to alternative rock or modern metal, giving their songs a special sound.

With a set currently consisting of more than 15 songs, which include a couple of covers (The Cure & Massive Attack), they have recorded a couple of demos independently (including an acoustic demo), and they have participated in several festivals and contests, reaching the semifinals in the Spanish Emergenza 2004 festival, and winning second place in their hometown local band contest. Besides, they have played in Madrid venues like Ritmo y Compas or the now closed Caracol, and festivals like "La Palma youth music festival" (La Palma, Canary Islands) or Universimad 2005 (along bands like Vacazul, Cycle, Digital21, Skunk DF, Sterlin, TeNPeL, Nothink or Idioterne)

Accessibles but revolving. Powerful but atmosferic. Mysterious but direct. All of this and more is Delay...

Desde el 2002 lleva este grupo de Pozuelo de Alarcon (Madrid) intentando hacerse un hueco en la escena alternativa madrileña. Salidos de la Escuela de Musica de Pozuelo, Delay se formo en principio como una banda sin muchas pretensiones, pero las ganas de conseguir hacer "algo mas" hicieron que pronto empezaran a moverse por locales de Madrid, ampliando poco a poco su repertorio propio, aunque sin dejar de incluir alguna version adaptada a su estilo.

¿Y cual es su estilo? A pesar de ser de Madrid, se les puede incluir facilmente en esa corriente que suelen definir como britrock, siendo su sonido afín al de grupos como Placebo, Radiohead, Feeder, Biffy Clyro, Cooper Temple Clause o My Vitriol, pero aportando otras influencias de cada integrante del grupo, desde el garage sesentero/setentero hasta el rock alternativo y metal actual, dandole un toque especial a las canciones.

Con un repertorio que actualmente supera las 15 canciones, el cual incluyen un par de versiones (de The Cure y Massive Attack), ha grabado un par de maquetas de forma totalmente independiente (incluyendo una maqueta acustica), y ha participado en varios festivales y concursos de Madrid, quedando semifinalista del concurso de Emergenza de 2004, y segundos en el concurso de maquetas convocado por el ayuntamiento de Pozuelo de Alarcón. Ademas, han tocado en salas capitalinas como Ritmo y Compás o la desaparecida Sala Caracol, o festivales como el de musica joven de La Palma (Canarias) o el Universimad 2005 (junto a bandas como Vacazul, Cycle, Digital21, Skunk DF, Sterlin, TeNPeL, Nothink or Idioterne).

Accesibles pero intrincados. Contundentes pero atmosfericos. Misteriosos pero directos. Todo eso y mas son Delay...
