I am a huge fan of "YES" and in particular, "RICK WAKEMAN". Also "Pink Floyd", "Genesis", "Emerson Lake and Palmer", "Manfred Mann's Earthband", "Moody Blues", "King Crimson", "Tom Petty" and the "Heartbreakers", "Richard Wright", "Fleetwood Mac", "Stevie Nicks", "Lindsey Buckingham", "Dave Gilmour", "Trevor Rabin", "The Traveling Wilbury's", "Roger Waters", "The Hellecasters", "Ray Davies", "Mike Pinder", "Tony Banks", "Justin Hayward", "Roger Hodgson", "Clifford T Ward", "Isao Tomita", "Roy Phillips & The Peddlers"- the great 60/70's Jazz Trio, "Malcolm McLaren","Ian Neal" and many others listed on my page.Do check out Ian Neal's "ALL IN THE GOLDEN AFTERNOON" album, you will be glad you did! This album has to be the best kept secret, it really is amazing.Scroll down for write up re Ian's music.
In the early day's I grew up listening to "Elvis", "Bill Haley", "The Everly Brothers", Duane Eddy, Roy Orbison, "Eddie Cochran", "Del Shannon", "Gene Vincent", "Jerry Lee Lewis", "Buddy Holly" & "Lonnie Donegan". I listened avidly to "Radio Luxenbourg" every night.
I feel very fortunate to have been part of the 60's music explosion, especially the Beatles era. No-one who was there at the time could forget the days of Beatlemania and I don't think we shall ever see anything quite like it again.I was into bands like "The Who"," The Kinks", "Spencer Davis","The Yardbirds", "Argent", "Jefferson Airplane","The Beatles", "The Shadows", "The Byrds" & "The Rolling Stones" who we would go and see at the "Crawdaddy club" in Richmond, my home town. The guitar legend, Chet Atkins, was also a huge influence.
At the end of the sixties I was introduced by a friend to the great jazz trio, "The Peddlers" who were really something very special back then, and from that, my music tastes widened to include Jazz. The 70's came and with it my favorite type of music, "Progressive Rock", with bands like "Emerson Lake & Palmer", "Yes", "Pink Floyd", "Genesis" etc. The synthesiser was also born, thanks to "Robert Moog", and my first taste of that was on the amazing "Six Wives of Henry VIII" album by "Rick Wakeman" who was to become my hero. " Keith Emerson was another huge influence on my musical taste, and ELP became another favorite band of mine. I have a very broad taste in music as I came from a family of musicians and was introduced at an early age to Big Band music, "The Ted Heath Orchestra", "Glen Miller" etc were embedded in my mind and I still love that stuff today. Dad played Sax and Cello, his Brother played Sax & Violin and Dad's Sister played the Accordion. Also, with my part Yorkshire roots, there is a love for Brass Band music, "The Grimethorpe Colliery Band" being my favorite, and probably the best there is, as witnessed in the film "Brassed Off" I also like all types of classical music especially by "Claude Debussy" "Maurice Ravel" "Saint Saens" & "Erik Satie", and even some opera, in particular, "Puccini", so I enjoy most types of music if its good. The only exception is rap ( I think they left the letter C out!) which I do not class as music in any sense of the word. For film score composers, two that stand out for me are, "John Barry" and "Trevor Rabin". Barry's "Out of Africa", "Raise the Titanic", "The Lion in Winter" are all exceptional examples but for me his score for "Dances With Wolves" has to be one of the best ever and remains my favorite film.
I have an "Out of Control" CD & Vinyl collection and I am rapidly running out of space !.
I suppose this page is my kind of tribute to all the artistes mentioned on this page, for all the great pleasure their music & art has given me over the years. It is not uncommon for my kids to shout at me to turn the music down ! Er ? Shouldn't that be the other way round ?.

Electronica, Prog Rock and Classical is a mixture of styles of music that you may not think, work together. How wrong can you be, and a very talented, Ian Neal, has proved just that with his debut album "All In A Golden Afternoon".
Every once in a while an album is released that just blows you away with the first listen, this is no exception. Based on Lewis Carroll's "Alice's Adventures In Wonderland" a combination of music and verse, it is a true masterpiece and if there's any justice in the world, it should be heard by the masses, it's up there with the best, there's no question about that.
Three years in the making might seem a long time to produce an album but when you hear the quality and production that has gone into this project you will understand why it took so long and Ian will not accept second best, he is a perfectionist and it undoubtedly shows in his music.
Ian's musical influences include, King Crimson, Genesis, Yes, Pink Floyd and Barclay James Harvest amongst others and listening to this album, you can hear likenesses to these bands work somewhere along the way.
Other recent works of Ian's include an EP called "The Lake", a thirteen minute track inspired by the 1769 lakeland poet "Thomas Gray" and which has now just been re-worked to be a fully instrumental piece. Also, world war one poet "Rupert Brooke" inspired Ian to create "Sonnet V" a.k.a., "The Soldier". A beautifully haunting four minute piece that really works well and one is left wishing that it would continue for much longer, it's that good! "Storm" and "On The Idle Hill of Summer", again a stunning piece of work.
Surely it is only a matter of time before Ian is signed up and I sincerely hope he gets the recognition he so richly deserves. Do take the time to check out his music, as it really is special.

Hi Del, I've been busy the last day-or-two moving flats but i've got settled in a new place. There's not much going on up here in Lancashire at the moment and the weather has turned quite cold and wet...back to normal.lol I've been sleeping a lot after moving, i'm sure it was the same thing for you when you moved your music room upstairs. One forgets how big an ordeal these moving things are until you're actually doing them. I'm taking a short break up to Scotland in a couple of weeks to see my Mum and to play a bit of golf, can't wait. I hope you're having a nice week Del. all the best, Colum
Hi Del, We are going to see Yes/Asia July 16th in MUSKOGEE, Oklahoma! I didn't find out until YESterday they were going to be there!!! Geez..so I had to get 10th row back. Muskogee is about 25 minutes from our house in Tulsa. I've not seen Yes since 75ish! Ha! Anyhoo, do you think they will let me take my camera in? Wish you were here to go with us! There has not been any promotion what so ever....If they would have come to Tulsa, it would have already been sold out & we wouldn't have been able to get tickets, ha! Hope you've been doing good...I've not been online much! Take care from this old lady, Deb
Hi Del, The weather here is has been very hot too and the humidity is just too much, i don't like being out in it. I'm indoors at the moment listening to the Wimbledom Ladies final on the radio. I think i'll go out to the Chinese restaurant soon for a bite of lunch now. I'm taking it very easy as i did well in my assignments and exams. I just have my dissertation to concentrate on now for the summer. I'm listening to the new a-ha album a lot this week and i think it's pretty good. all the best Del.
Hi Delboywww Hope this finds you well and having a good week so far. Enjoy the rest of it and the coming weekend..Take care. Love and Peace Tony
P.S."Talking Moods" album Links: Blastmymusic -- iTunes -- Rhapsody-- Napster EP "THE UNKNOWN CELL" is on Blastmymusic. and soon will be released on iTunes. Thanks for the support.
No holiday plans yet Del. I hope to take a couple of long weekends over the next couple of months to go camping and hillwalking. Like you and your house-boat dream though, I'm rather in need of the £££! During the Edinburgh festival I like to see a few shows so I'll have that to look forward to in August. Sx
Hi Del, Thank you for the birthday wishes. I have been trying to send messages on here, but it didn't work for me. Or you may have three thank you notes. lol. But, I did have a great day, and I did save you some cake. lol. The kids cooked me dinner, and then we saw the fireworks down by the waterfront, it was a very nice day and I got spoiled. Dawn
I think CS&N have improved too - hence me not thinking about seeing them until Glastonbury! (they certainly do add up these gigs - Strawbs (twice), Rick, Kings, Doncaster Rocks!) ...... and no doubt there will be something else later on in the year, after I've saved up!! x
Scorcher here today already!! (8.50am) - yup, Kings were fantastic - even the seated areas were standing and lots of dancing/rocking/singing going on - fab! (average age 22?! ha,ha). After seeing CS&N at Glastonbury made me want to see them at MEN next week, but alas tickets are £45 - think I should have planned ahead a bit eh?! - never mind, next time. Take care Del Lynne
Hi Del, Yet another week whizzes by!! - Hope it's not toooo warm for you down there - quite pleasant up here - although sandals and thunder storm on my way to work this morning not good! Best wishes to you and your family (as always) Lynne x
Sorry have not been in contact but due to been busy at work and next week back on 5 days ,i am also doing some signwriting for a good friend of mine .........bit out of practise with it but getting there..Have 4 signs to do ..Must say i do enjoy it ...Also as well trying to get more photo work done ...But weather here as been terrible .Last night it never stopped raining with thunder and lighening until the early hours ....Hope all is well and have a good weekend Del Will speak again soon ...Give my love and best wishes to all your family
Hi Del, Thanks for stopping by. We're in another heat-wave up here in Lancashire, i think i'll head up to the park later to see who can i can see. I'm having a lazy time of it lately as i finished my exams last week, they went fine. I haven't got round to watching any Wimbledon yet, i'll probably wait until the second week before i start watching it. I was listening to some Steve Hackett recently when i was playing a lot of Genesis' 'Selling England by the pound' and 'A trick of the tail' albums. Other than that, the only other Steve Hackett that i'm familiar with is with GTR. I heard he didn't get along with Steve Howe on that project. I also heard Trevor Rabin never really got along with Steve Howe either, maybe Steve Howe is a difficult chap like Van Morrison? Anyway, i hope all is going well with you Del. all the best, Colum
Hope you got thoroughly spoilt yesterday Del! (I had the family round for a barbecue ... great weather!). Kings of Leon tonight! Have a good week Del, take care, Lynne x
Hi Del, Hope your weekend is good, maybe you will get some time to relax. It is finally hot here and I have to work tomorrow. oh well, maybe Sunday will be nice. Every thing is going well, Renee is getting bigger by the day lol. Carl and Sasha have settled into married bliss. (hee hee), Chris is in love. I am well, just me. lol Have a good weekend Del Dawn
Hi Del, Just one exam left to do tomorrow :-) I want out for a nice long walk this afternoon into the countryside. Nice day for it too as it was sunny and fresh and breezy. This evening i've been listening to bit of Nick Lowe and Dave Edmunds. Did you ever listen to those blokes?
Hi Del, How you doing? Exams are so far so good. The weather up here in Lancashire is great this week, i hope it lasts. I've been listening to Rick's 'Journey to the centre of the earth' tonight. It's been quite a while since i last heard it, it's a jolly good piece of work, don't you think? I hope you're having a nice week Del. all the best, Colum
