About me:

What can I tell...hm..well for the longest time I have loved to draw. Ever since the first conscious thought, I was analyzing all around me and drawing pictures and stories in my head. I once went to the academy of arts in Arnhem and studied fashion design which I loved as well, that was easy. I worked for several years in the industry, but the commerce kind of did me in. In the end I felt no connection to what I made. Since starting a new life in Amsterdam in 2006 I was all of a sudden outside with spray cans (legal, yes I'm a puss) I sketched every night after work, painted in the weekends and finally chose for this and only this. I do teach at The University of Amsterdam about design, so I do not waist my fashion experience and pass on the ideology of statement & creativity.

You will find my work now and then in magazines or in the city, like in club 8 where I made massive murals around the dancefloor. Since I tend to lock myself from the outside world, there are only rare moments when you can actually view my work. But it happens, just check my website martinejohanna.com
