"Its about ordinary moments turned into the extraordinary. Its about emotional attachment to place and time and the things that people our lives like passing Polaroids already fading in the light. Its about making everything up as you go, about writing your own myths and legends, about drawing personal treasure maps with the keys and symbols kept hidden in your heart. Its about simultaneously not giving away too much whilst pouring out your very soul. This is how its to begin, indeed." - tangents.co.uk

"The Pointless Gift' shows guitarist-singer Marcus Teague as a real songwriting talent, with every song a showcase of compelling lyrics and stick-in-the-brain melodies. But he can also push the traditional perimeters of 'songs' without ever becoming tedious, even though many are lengthy, creating instead a series of fantastic journeys." - The Age, ALBUM OF THE WEEK

What we done:
Play music that's loud, violent, sweet, epic, small, fun, sad, with guitar, bass, drums, lots of words, voices and sometimes cello, violin, keyboard, banjo, piano and a knack. Everything takes too long.

"Very few A-List indie bands of the past few years came to play in 2006. The Shins? Busy. The National? Exhausted. Okkervil River? Touring. Enter Australia's best-kept secret Deloris and their new record Ten Lives. Ten Lives filled the void and then some, earning the band every right to demand their own A-List status." - badrobot.co.uk
"Deloris produce an impeccable collection of songs. No weird singer, no cheap toy instruments -- just tight songs with deep hooks." - oneloudernyc.com

I was in Sydney to see and Horse and Tegan & Sara, only to have a nice little conversation with Kate Cooper (An Horse frontwoman) about Australian indie and, consequently, "why the fuck Deloris aren't receiving international fame and glory right now".
Only to find out after I raised the issue that Kate not only knew of your band but was having the same discussion about how incredible you guys are about 10 minutes prior.
Freaky, huh?
I felt all warm and fuzzy for you lot after having a few minutes ramble with Kate about the collective awesome you create on a daily basis. T'was nice haha.
okay so i just got a second job at this amazing little cafe in west end (the st kilda of brisbane) and i went in yesterday to sort it all out and guess what album came on, not just one song, but the album? fake our deaths. i was high on life the rest of the day and didn't even mind working new years eve. i sat and listened to the whole album and felt so proud people were asking what band it was. me and elaina (whose ipod it was) were so happy and appreciative.
oh yes, i see how it is. no shows in aaaaages so i move away, and then when i move away to a sunny place that has no culture, you go and announce a christmas show. i understand, you don't want me as a fan anymore, well too bad deloris, i'm in it for life. incidently, you should help think of ideas for me for my deloris tattoo. oh my yes. xoxo emy
