Delta Nove jam at SST Studios w/ special guests Marc Ford
Delta Nove (delta novay) Formed in a Long Beach, California garage with funk at the core, Delta Nove has grown incredibly since those early days and their first independent EP release in 1998. After hundreds of shows in California and on the road, the band has developed its world funk sound to crowds around the country. When using the term “world funk” we’re talking deep and heavy funk grooves, a thunderous array of percussion, catchy songs, and a celebration of life like you’re at Brazilian Carnaval and New Orleans Mardi Gras all at the same time.
Delta Nove finds inspiration from American funk, and then finds the funk other cultures have to offer and mixes it all up, drawing heavily on Brazilian music, west African funk, calypso, rock and reggae.
With a hard working do-it-yourself work ethic, the band has garnered accolades like “Best Live Act” for 2 years in a row at the Orange County Music Awards, one of the “Top Ten Bands to See” for 2005 by Jambase, recorded their albums independently at their Long Beach-based studio the Compound, done countless national tours, and has performed with such artists as Michael Franti and Spearhead, Poncho Sanchez, Burning Spear, Ozomatli, King Sunny Ade, Kid Creole and the Coconuts, String Cheese Incident, and many more.
Beyond simply creating music, Delta Nove has made it a priority to perform at social benefits, community events, universities, and public schools, in order to give back to the community and raise social awareness through their music. They have also maintained an intense touring schedule, making them one of the hardest working bands in the independent music scene and a unique addition to the musical soundscape of Southern California and beyond. As the band moves into the future, they continue in their pursuit of positive, uplifting music, their efforts of giving back to the people, and having a funky good time. Come see for yourself.

Hey Band, Theresa and I are having our 3rd Annual 4th of July Party here on the Long Beach Peninsula again! Here is a photo of the acoustic jam we had in 2007 in front of our many friends and neighbors. It was a hit and people talked about it for a long time and still do! Let's do it again! Viking....stay home! (Check out the rest of the pictures from this party and the one in 2008 located on Pukey Bear's myspace photos page)
Hope you can all make it band!
I hear Eric Bennett is able to join in on the jam now!
I'll be at Flagstaff Brewing Company again on the 12th. Remember when we talked the cops into letting Rob out of their car... After he lit the Roman Candle he bought in New Mexico. That was great, can't wait to hear your sounds again. Laterz
