So when we have the peace of being in solitude, we must then go forward into the world and spread the benefits of our thoughts that we accumulated whilst we were in solitude (Lindsay Donald).

Storyteller Robyn's Interests
|
| General | I'm from Chesapeake, Virginia and have been writing ever since I was fourteen. Retired from the Air Force, I now write full time.
I appreciate solitude. I will go to a restaurant or to a movie by myself and feel totally comfortable with it. Although I embrace my solitude, I also enjoy family gatherings and hanging out with a good friend from time to time. My sisters and my mother are my closest friends. We bond over food. And lots of chocolate. I like talking on the phone with my mother because I tell her everything. She is a generous provider of good conversation and wisdom. I sigh when a baby smiles at me. It makes my day! I enjoy museums, “health walks” (after they are over!), then there’s chocolate....did I already mention that? I get thrills out of jet skiing and White Water rafting. I love log cabins, red barns, and the breathtaking splendor of North Carolina fields. If you’re interested in a more indepth bio., it is contained in my blog archives. It's the first entry dated 7 Oct 2007.
| | Music | I listen to Techno Trance (it is great exercise music), New Age, Native American Music (it feeds my muse), Gospel, Blues, and Jazz. Nichole Nordeman and Crystal Lewis are my favorite Christian music soloists. And then there's Rev. Ernest Davis Jr.’s Wilmington Chester Mass Choir--WOW. They send a soulful shiver right up my spine. | | Movies | There is nothing more thrilling then settling down in a theatre with warm popcorn, a smuggled in drink, then boom! There is this excited hush I feel during the first few seconds of the movie. I experience this heady anticipation, especially when I KNOW it’s going to be a good one. My favorite movies are Back to the Future, Jurassic Park, War of the Worlds, Transformers—I like movies in which the human race is threatened or people are being chased by big menacing creatures. I also like Tyler Perry's movies. | | Television | Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy, Mystery Diagnosis, Cain, Dr. G., Soul Food. I watch lots of sitcoms because I love to laugh: Carpool, Cavemen, Friends, The New Adventures of Old Christine, Living Single, Scrubs, The Gilmore Girls, Ugly Betty, Will and Grace, Reba, Everybody Loves Raymond, Everybody Hates Chris, Becker. | | Books | D'Amour Road by Sigrid Macdonald, The Pink Room by Mark LaFlamme, The First Lady by Carl Weber, The Coldest Winter Ever by Sister Souljah, White Oleander by Janet Fitch, and The Upper Room by Mary Monroe...

Meet Rosaline, a young girl at Deep Creek High School who calls herself the storyteller. Every Tuesday, she and her friends meet in her room for girl talk. Then they move on to more exciting things like storytelling. In these tales of adventure, she even uses real life characters like her friends and this boy on which she has a crush. In one story, fifteen students get kidnapped. Her listeners keep coming back for more as they wonder what will happen when the women are herded through the woods like animals. Will they be sold as slaves? Or are they part of some weird, classified, government experiment? It’s all just for fun at first, until bad things and people begin merging into reality—like one of the kidnappers. Now, Rosaline must get to him in her story before he gets to them in real life. An excerpt is available from the above link, and also from Chapter 1 which is posted in my October 10, 2007 blog.
