Jan 24th Oliver Springs - Dem Eighty Six Five Boyz Preforming - Throw down!!! CHECK IT OUT!!!
Emerging from the streets of Knoxville, TN, Dem Eighty Six Five Boyz broke into the hip-hop scene in March of 2008. Now with their debut album, Life In The Streets Vol. 1, Arcapella & Big Splo fuse singular rhymes with nostalgic samples to create a record brimming with bassy street anthems, hot hooks, and songs every one can relate to. With standout tracks like "Alive, Throw Down, Hit Da Flo, & Aye Shawty” Life In the Streets Vol. 1 appeals to hip hop fans and non-hip hop fans alike. The two artists were actually introduced by an out-of-towner known as lil Wade an underground artist from Chicago. "I was doing a track for Lil Wade, and she asked if I wanted to get on a track with Arcapella," says Splo. "So I asked where he was from, and she said Knoxville. So, go figure, somebody from Chicago hooked up two rappers from the same city.” The First track the two collabed on was called ‘Don’t Hate the Playas’ followed by ‘4 Door Chevy & Dis Is Zurb’. When Splo & Arcapella began working on the hit song ‘Alive’ the two decided to form Dem Eighty Six Five Boyz and merge there Independent production companies (Splo's Devil Dog Records and Arcapella's Bustin Headz Produktionz). Although grounded in hip hop Dem Eighty Six Five Boyz have no barriers when it comes to genres. "Our style is very diverse. Some tracks sound West Coast: some Sound East Coast, but we keep it Southern. You can hear R&B and rock influences in certain tracks. We got songs for the clubs, to ride to, for the day-to-day struggle, and when you mad as hell and want to fight." says Arcapella. "I think the album shows who we are," adds Splo. " Some days we at the club doing our thing: some days we struggle to keep our head above water; and some days we got a pocket full of dough, an we living it up -- you know, life in the streets." Already working on Vol. 2 of Life In The Streets, Arcapella & Big Splo are working to do what ever it takes to get known, get paid an get heard. ”We decided to do more to get our name out” says Splo. “Since some people have never herd of ‘Dem Eighty Six Five Boyz’ and are skittish about buying the cd, were currently working on getting posters, T-Shirts, & Free Single Cds to hand out to the people so we can build a bigger fan base an persuade more people into getting our cd” says Arcapella.
