Any of the "Dragonriders of Pern" series, Star Trek, Louis L'Amour westerns. I like to listen to classics on audiobook while mowing our gigantic lawn.
Heroes
..Many...but most of them no longer live. The problem with popular heroes is that so many of them eventually let you down. Styx has a good song where some of the lyrics touch on that: .
Basically, anyone who doesn't "sell out" in today's society is on their way to being a hero in my book.
About me: After finding out that I'm only one of many other Mike Harrison's on the web and one of at least five or more Mike Harrison's who are musicians, I'm wondering if I ought to go with an alias like "Demented Composer" or something. So, I'm a musician...sometimes...when I get a chance. I'm not getting rich at it yet, but aren't most musicians supposed to be that way? It's either one way or the other (with most being....poor). Ah yes, Mike Patton. He did a record with the Dillinger Escape Plan. This is from a band that he created. He basically (as he put it) "wrote all of the music and found some people who were crazy enough to play it."
