Combine unmistakable exuberance, seemingly inexhaustible talent, and the undeniable presence of God’s anointing and you have the ministry of singer, songwriter and musician, Elder Demetrius Tolefree.
Born and raised in the Bay Area, Demetrius began playing the drums at age 9. He later discovered his singing voice as well as the piano and organ. While honing his talents in church, Demetrius began forming his own local groups such as: The Cathedral Boys, As One and the Demetrius Tolefree Singers.
Demetrius has been featured on several projects. Credits include Lawrence Matthews and Friends (1995) and Bibleway Christian Fellowship (1997 & 2001). Demetrius has played for: Dorinda Clark-Cole, Twinkie Clark, Ricky Dillard, Rev. James Moore and Douglas Miller. He has opened for Kirk Franklin, Yolanda Adams, Donnie McClurkin, Fred Hammond and Rev. John P. Kee.
Demetrius finally decided to venture out on his own with his Debut Album entitled "SAVED: The Revival". This album displays a great mix of both traditional and contemporary Gospel to create a sound that is inspiring to the heart and warm to the soul.
Demetrius says"...Growing up listening to the Hawkins, the Winans and the Clarks made me want to sing...Listening to Thomas Whitfield, Ben Tankard and Hubert Powell made me want to play...but now after listening to Donald Lawrence, Kirk Franklin and Kurt Carr...I really want to write!".
