Demilitia originated as the brainchild of Billy Maloney (rhythm guitar) and Owen Burley (lead guitar) in the winter of 2004 in snow-buried Buffalo, NY. Soon after choosing to relocate to Maloney’s hometown of Brooklyn, the duo teamed up with Chris O’Neil (drums) and Ralph Ortiz (vocals) to create their own organic hybrid of heavy metal with a universal old school rock ’n roll attitude. .... After 2 years of crushing shows in the greater NYC area, PA, NJ and upstate NY and the departure of Jason Porzse (Bass) caused Demilitia to begin the search for a new Bass player. The Band's favorite Bartender, Melody from Lucky 13 Saloon, put Demilitia in touch with Jennifer "JennCity" Arroyo (ex-Kittie, Ex-Suicide City) and the two parties hit it off. In March 2010 Jennifer became a full member of Demilitia. .... What makes Demilitia unique is that each member brings a completely different set of influences to the table, creating a mongrel breed of thrash, death metal, psychedelic, progressive rock, and old school metal, drawing inspiration from favorites like Mastodon, Machine Head, Behemoth and Cannibal Corpse. The music and the live shows are focused on provoking a visceral and psychotropic experience within the audience. .... Demilitia is all about performing live as often as possible and engaging the fans at every show with 100% energy and ferocity. Their music is intense, concentrated, groove-infused savagery composed with the intent of performance, and it is very apparent in the band’s breakneck live shows. .... A recent review of a Demilitia performance stated, “There are a handful of really good bands playing out on the NYC metal scene now and these guys are one of them... They blew through their set in full-on showmen mode… They obviously really love to play live and the crowd was totally into it, headbanging all around.” .... The band has released their first studio recording in June 2009: a tightly woven, relentless six song self-titled EP, and have played countless shows to get the word out on Demilitia. .... Currently the band is recording a self produced 4-song EP with Ashes Within drummer and Audio Wizard Jeff "Hex" Harris. The songs are some of Demilitia's most aggressive, brutal and yet progressive to date.     ..A raw visceral dose of psychotropic metal. A tightly woven compound of relentless oscilating thrash riffs scraping over breakneck grooves all driven by organic machine gun percussion. Then slathered in a gravy of primal throat destruction and a tinge of classic rock guitarded six string abuse. Composed by drunk raging viking-stoners with A.D.D. that have a love and appreciation for both melodic fury and unnerving dissonance...um, we think its good. ..
