Demonio started in 1992,in the wake of the grunge era,Mike De leon(vocals/guitar)and Richard Rodriguez(guitar) both attended Lamar Jr.High 87-89,becoming best friends in the summer of 7th grade.Mike who was son of a latin music musician grew up listening to metal with his older cousins,they were into Maiden,Judas Priest Celtic frost,Venom,Metallica,and Slayer.Mike quickly introduced Richard to every Metal Band he knew.Summer went by and they didn't keep in touch all summer long until Richard called Mike and told him his dad bought him a guitar,so Mike took his guitar over and showed Richard a few things he knew,They started to take lessons for 7$ a piece for 1 hour from some guy they saw on Austin access channel,a local cable program, they went 3 times then Mikes mom got tired of taking them.So without a ride they took what they learned then bought guitar tablatures to learn what ever else they could.
Mike's brother Rob De leon (Bass)was 4 years younger,he was'nt interested in music at the time,but listened to metal from the influence of his brother Mike,Rob looked up to his brother,then one day Rob watched a video called 'Cliff 'em all',he was blown away by Cliff Burton's bass style,he also admired basses Geddy Lee, Geezer Butler,and Steve Harris.He quickly learned to play the bass by spending continuos hours trying to keep up with Steve Harris, playing along Iron Maiden albums,and following Cliff Burton on 'Master of Puppets'.Rob finally got his fingers to move with great speed.
Mike,Rob,And Richard got together came up with 10 songs,practiced them over and over,but they still needed a drummer.Mike and Rob were invited by there cousin to watch his band play, and that's were they saw Abel(drummer),they where impressed by his drum playing,during there set Mike leaned over and told Rob"There's our drummer".A Month went by and Mike,Rob,and Richard still unsuccessfull in finding a drummer got a call from Mike's cousin,he needed a bass and guitar player,so Mike and Rob tried out,then joined his band called 'Dream theory'.Mike asked his cousin if he wanted another guitarist,he said yes,so they pulled in Richard. All was good for a few months,until Mike's cousin stop showing up for rehearsal,he was worried about his girlfriend cheating on him while he was at rehearsal,and was scared to leave his home,Mike would fill in on vocals so that they could get some practice,he had to do it so much,he learned all the vocals to all of there songs and learned to play and sing them at the same time. Tired of the whole situation,they decided to kick there cousin out of his own band.They practiced and then quickly were ready to play live.
Demonio played there first show at 'Zeroes' in Corpus Christi Texas and had a huge crowd response,Rob even played with a cast on his arm due to an injury at work.Demonio has alway been dedicated to there band and has never let anyone down or bailed out of any gigs,even when Mike's voice was totally gone because of illness one winter,Demonio still found a way to do the show.A great highlight for them was playing along side 150 bands in California's 1st Metalfest 'November to Dismember'.They are currently in the studio working on there 5th cd and playing as much as possible.
