Obsessed with Music & driven by an urge to create lunacy on dancefloors, my first leg shaking was upon the home stereo speakers to Gary Numan's Cars. Aged 2.
PRE-TEENS: I grew up with one plastic cow & my brother's punk & metal Vinyl collection to play with, equally loving the strange sounds, sights & smells on the scratch 'n' sniff sleeves (mmmmmmmm strawberry punk).
EARLY TEENS: First (last) set of turntables & an awareness of something huge & ridiculously exciting growing around me - the rave scene. I needed a slice of it ... a big juicy bite ... so at 15 sold my Super Nintendo (gutted) & bought a ticket to an all-nighter in Birmingham. Strangers hugged me ... & EVERYBODY DANCED! T'was fucking amazing.
16: Realised couldn't mix - Sold decks ... (Bugger)
17: Snoop Dogg Via Vanilla Ice (oooops) & M.C Hammer (quality keks) drew me into the Hip_Hop sound. Didn't relate to any of the lyrics (part from my collection of guns & bitches) but it sounded good & seemed to make people move pretty erraticaly.
UNI: Drum 'n' Bass was huge & I lapped it up like a massive sea of snakebite - alongside breakbeat they combined to get me overly excited & move like a chicken on speed & lucozade tablets.
2003: Still drawn to the underlying energies of all these styles but generally bored of the sameyness of each respective scene it was time to copulate styles throw them all into the mix & see what happens.
is how I like my tunes. I soon realised that I didn't have to be some swanky-ass-technical-scratching-beat-matching-deck-technician, proceeded to buy a shitty cd-mixer & rock house parties all around, managing to merge all these styles into a heady & explosive aural assault. Don't really know how ... but
SLEAZECORE was born.
I collected a band of merry and messy ladies and men on my travels, those with the ability to illuminate a room with their intense energies and beautiful freakery, filthy dancers, oddball carnivalists and sensual singists all ready to express and help create what was about to become...
The Monster was Unleashed ... proceeding to tear apart the Manchester Retro bar. All crowds and scenes came together, creating a Rapidly Expanding, Endlessly Vibrating, Multi-Coloured, Multi-Pierced, Mad-Head Mash-Up of a night..... feeding upon these new pulsating energies it became bigger & bigger & bigger, till it broke from its cage & flew down the road to Sofa Central, and then to The Attic, Subspace, Sankeys, Mint Lounge, The Zoo, Gatecrasher, Joshua Brooks and now in the county of Cumbria. Come wit us..
My attention deficit disorder guarantees you will never be bored since all tangents are taken on my magical musical mystery tour. The Monster is especially suitable for Punks, Ravers, Hip Hoppers, Cyber goths, Electro-Kids, Mad-Heads and Lunatics. Ears will hear a Psychotic Soundclash where Hip-Hop, Rock, Drum and Bass, Breaks and Electro collide within bootlegs and cheeky mixes.
Keep it Monster, keep it Sleazecore for everyone.
