Dendera Reviews

"Killer riffs. Sick vocals, You lot have a future!!"

Bill Steer - Carcass

“Dendera has all the energy of a young Def Leppard and the prowess of early Iron Maiden. They are the modern embodiment of the spirit of the NWOBHM, and a f*****g pleasure to rock with live. Talented beyond their years”

Chris Babbitt - Taking Dawn

"You guys were one of the best opening acts on our tour! You all have great stage prescence and are awesome musicians! Im sure great things are coming soon!"

Andrew Cushing - Taking Dawn

"I did finally make it to the room and ‘refresh’ myself with a cold, tasty beverage, I became aware of the truly wonderful 80’s power metal goodness spilling forth from the stage."

"As Dendera stood belting out some seriously tasty riffs like a younger, less leather clad Helloween, I was pleasantly impressed by the surprise package of the night."

"However, they had me smiling from ear to ear by the end of their set and indeed drunkenly rambling at them before the end of the night."

Bondarus - Enochian Theory Forum

"DENDERA - Fun and fun. Nothing better than watching a fun band being fun I think. The cover of 'Holy Diver' was great and this cheered me up no end!"

Ben Defiance - Pompey Music Forum

  • The Sorrow of MASTEMA

    Hey Denderdudes!
Jeeze, this shit has been a long time coming. Some of our band members nearly died of old age / constipation in the process, but... At last, The Sorrow of MASTEMA are gig-fit and primed for their debut in Chichester Apr 23. Get yourself along if you can, as it promises to be a muthafukkin banger :)

Dendera.. 2009 was a huge year for Dendera playing numerous shows, supporting some great bands, releasing our EP and having some great fun along the way. With two songs recorded at the end of 2008 and two more to complete the EP planned in the summer our mission was to get gigging. We did this by getting several shows booked in over the spring the first being the Wedgewood Rooms. This was to become a regular venue for us in 2009 playing 4 shows there through the year. By June the EP was finished and this was released at the Battle of the Bands at the Wedgewood Rooms selling hundreds of copies. The middle of the year saw us supporting some fantastic bands including Enochian Theory, Zico Chain and the massively entertaining Electric Eel Shock. The year finished in a bit of a blur as we stormed our way through the rounds of the battle of the bands style competition at the Enska Club 'Own the Thrown.' We found ourselves in the final only to fall just short of the winning mark finishing proudly in second place. 2010 was a tough year as we parted ways with singer Dave Hartley. Since then we have found a new front man in Ashley Edison. With his towering vocals he has taken the band to a new level helping to produce an amazing unique sound while also helping to secure a support slot at the Wedgewood rooms with "Taking Dawn". Unfortunately early 2011 saw the departure of Russ Orme from the band due to other commitments. It didn't take long to find a new drummer; Andy Finch joined the band shortly after falling straight into the band and helping to create a rhythm section that goes a long way in forming the unique sound of the band and rivals any. 2011 looks to be a great year for Dendera as we have secured a support slot with Texas based metal band "The Sword" live at the Joiners in Southampton with many other big gigs on the horizon.
