Deng Deng HiFi was founded in 2005 by selectors and recordcollectors
Jr Roots & Prince Michael and reggaesinger/singjay DannyLocks. Deng Deng was
fomed by the three members because of the lack of a real ”rootssoundsystem” and rootsreggae in general in south of Sweden, where dancehall and ragga has a much bigger part in the clubscene.
Deng Deng started from scratch, playing at small bars, restaurants and
underground clubs and parties. Joining Malmö Reggaeförening in 2006 soon
led to bigger venues, and within a year Deng Deng was a part of the
reggaescene in Malmö, performing at the Malmö Festival and opened for
artists like Anthony B and Groundation. Whatever money they received went
straight to the bank, saving up for their own speakers, preamp and amplifiers.
The soundsystem was finally completed in fall 2007, and then re-built in spring 2009
and is now bigger than ever, and still growing day by day. Deng Deng play Rootsmusic in a new, and classic way of a true soundsystem - militant style.
Always defending and descending radikal roots, and nothing but roots.
