Denices (duh-nice-ess) is a group formed in 2009 by Emcee/BeatMaker "dDes" and BeatMaker Extraordinaire "Danny Dee". The way they met is of little importance. What is pressing, though, is the way they manage to bounce their styles off of one another to create a sound of nostalgia the underground constantly seems to be reaching for. Both heavily influenced by jazz rap and the power of the pen, the end result is a mix of their collective influences which range from A Tribe Called Quest and Jay Dee to groups like The Miracles and The Stylistics. Although these influences weigh heavy on them both, they are still striving to create a sound completely their own.
Despite Denices being their group moniker, they in no way feel that they are, in fact, “The Nicest” in terms of their abilities. Denices is actually meant to be taken literally, as Desi is one of the most considerate people you will ever meet, while Danny has an aire of compassionate sensibility. Both seek to harmonize and spread peace of mind rather than spread negativity while still managing to preserve a small sense of bravado.
First person descriptions of oneself seem to be bent towards the positive, or in our case, lean towards the dope. But you make your mind up, 3rd person narratives are always embraced.
