These days, Denitia Odigie is pondering just about every significant question that a songwriter can have. Where is she at home stylistically? Who should her audience be? What's the best ratio of commercial appeal to artistic expression? Where does she fit in the local music scene? Despite how much is up in the air, she seems remarkably Zen about it all. It's as though the answers are working themselves out.

"A sultry-voiced maven who moves effortlessly from soul torch songs to Tsunami-like power chord rock, Denitia Odigie’s strong pipes and sparse accompaniments make her the belle of any ball. Self-taught and unabashedly autobiographical, her work is intimate and personal while remaining deeply engaging." (POP Montreal Festival)
"So where do you pin her down? Nowhere. Like a butterfly, she can be pegged to the page of a single genre and labeled as a
certain kind of singer but she’s really most beautiful when you let her just fly free." (Dissolver Magazine)
"...girlish cayenne-pepper voice skips from breathy to syncopated to belting...her alt-rock leanings now take a backseat to country-touched soul..." (The Nashville Scene)
"Her comfort and charisma on stage is just the starting line...
I know we still have yet to hear Odigie's masterpiece...stay tuned on this one." (The Deli Magazine)
Denitia Odigie is a talent that just happen to be strolling by. A good friend and amazing artist friend of mine introduced me to Denitia. I sign her up on the Open-Mic list and let the show proceed. By the time Denitia went up, everyone was already in good spirits for the talent before her “softened the waters” as they say. Therer we were, listening to this passionate display of incredible talent. We had a great time followed by an evening of alcohol and games. (not getting into that).
We get many talents that stroll by in from out of town and we never see them again for a while. However, when they do visit the city, they always bless us with there visit. I was sad to think that I will not see Denitia again until my good friend, Jon Savoy, canceled his featured performance. I was sad to heart about it but understood for he had to take care of some business. Well, the Universe has it that all falls into place. Being that Denitia was here till This Friday; we have asked her if she would do a feature performance at Mic-Club. She was more than happy to be Emotionally Naked for us.
This woman is just not earth tone sexy, but her music is alive and beautiful.
Tonight will be a good night to perform. Any Musicians who love the Open-Mic scene should definitely pop by and perform.
Mic-Club Open-Mic Sign up start at 7:45pm sharp Mic-Club Open-Mic Round 1 starts at 8:00pm Feature performance (Denitia Odigie) starts at 10:30pm Mic-Club round 2 starts at 11:30pm
