Born in a small town New Brunswick, Dennis Larcher started his formal musical education at seven years old by taking piano lessons. During these formative years, he also developed an interest in singing and began participating in youth choirs. A few years later the budding musician got himself a guitar. He immediately started writing songs both on his own and with his high school grunge band, The Lower Levels, with which he also performed live local shows. After high school, he enrolled in the University of Moncton’s music program. Here his musical horizons exploded as he began to explore deeper classical, jazz, and even progressive genres of music. On the academic front, he studied classical guitar for a year and then returned to his first love, the piano, to complete a Bachelor’s Degree in Music.

For the past four years, Denis has been teaching piano and guitar lessons privately and in various music schools in the Ottawa region. In this time he has had the opportunity to instruct students ranging from beginners to experienced players, from four to sixty-four years old, instilling within each the passion and reverence for music he himself holds.

Currently residing in Montreal, Dennis Larcher still composes music on a daily basis. Besides playing in an original new jazz duo called Dyalek, his main ongoing project is a collection of songs played on acoustic guitar and voice, playing solo or backed by a group of solid musicians.

Denis Larcher’s tunes are catchy and crafty, making you hum along and tap your feet, with just the right amount of unpredictability. At the moment Dennis Larcher has finished recording his EP which will be released in fall 2008.
