I play bass in The Salt Lake City Jazz Orchestra (Jerry Floor's). Also, I play in some other projects with guitarist Kenji Aihara. I'm also involved with studios in the SLC area like LA east, Soularium, Counterpoint et al doing session work. You can also catch me freelancing at weddings and corporate functions with Jerry Floor, Jay Lawrence and Joe Muscolino ;). Basically, if someone needs a bass player that knows his crap, people call me.
Influences
John Patitucci is a huge influence on both my electric and acoustic bass playing. He's one of the first bass players i heard when i started (i was 15). I had the chance to go out to New York and study with him and hang with him. It was an awesome experience. We keep in touch and I study with him when i get the chance. Another influence is Victor Wooten. Another one of my 'firsts.' We've jammed together, I did the bass-nature camp, and he's invited me back to help out. He's a great person and player. It's amazing to me that my biggest influences are now friends of mine, i hope that we can have long-lasting musical and social experiences with each other. Currently I'm studying with Gary Willis using secret futuristic technologies. He's really kicking my butt and i feel like a tool most of the time...but man it's fun!
Some of my other influences are Edgar Meyer, Jaco, Chick Corea, Michael Manring, John Coltrane, Chris Potter, Bill Stewart, Brian Blade, Marcus Miller...the list is huge! I wont go on. All i know is...i like music waaaay too much.
THIS VIDEO MAKES ME HAPPY!!
Sounds Like
I sound like myself, i think. But if have to, i think i can sound like anyone else too.
