Denson Baker ACS is cinematographer of feature films, music videos, documentary, commercials as well as Director/DP of Award winning and Australian Top 10 music videos for such artists as Old Man River, Magic Dirt, The Sleepy Jackson, sQuire, Anieki, Natalie Gauci, Cosima DeVeto, HiFi Mike, Sleek The Elite, Amanda Baker, Charlton Hill & Capelle among others.
New Zealand born and Australian raised.
Coming from an art & design background studying painting, photography and graphic design; Denson is also a graduate of the Australian Film Television & Radio School where he was the Cinematographer of the year in 1999; In 2002 he won the AFI Award for Best Cinematography in a Non-Feature and has worked internationally shooting in Europe, India, New Zealand, South Korea, The United States, The Pacific Islands and throughout Australia.
In 2005 Denson was accredited by the Australian Cinematographers Society allowing him the honour of having the letters ACS after his name.
He has shot films that have won awards and screened in most major international film festivals including Berlin, Sundance, Cannes, Tribecca, Clermont-Ferrand, Flickerfest, LA, among others. Denson's best known cinematography credits include the feature films The BLack Balloon, Steve Pasvolsky's Deck Dogz, Daniel Askil's internationally acclaimed short film We Have Decided Not to Die, The cinema released documentary Kanyini as well as recent music videos for Expatriate, The Presets, The Softlightes, Jimmy Barnes, Ash Hansen, Cut Copy & Paul Mac, the Black Eyed Peas Live & Snoop Dog Live for MTV. Plus commercials for Motorola, XBOX, Panasonic, Jagermeister and MTV
Denson recently shot the feature film THE BLACK BALLOON in with director Elissa Down, starring Toni Collette, Gemma Ward, Rhys Wakefield and Luke Ford. It was the winner of the 2008 Crystal Bear at the Berlinale - International Film Festival

The Black Stars brand new EP 'Money Or Your Life' is set for release in May through MGM/ GREEN and SugarRUSH.

I saw The Black Balloon again last night and since this time I wasn't preoccupied with trying to spot myself in those few scenes I was in, I watched the movie.
There were some truly fucking amazing shots in that film, dude.
