About me:
The Denton County Young Democrats is an organization that seeks to unite the Democrats of Denton County under the banner of fair and just politics. We believe our greatest responsibility is not to serve America, but to serve Americans. We work to shape a government that is open and accountable to all of its citizens.We hope to instill a spirit of moderation in political affairs; to be liberal in protecting the rights of all Americans and peacefully spreading the ideals of liberty abroad, while conservatively restraining the power of big business and special interest. We believe it is the government's moral obligation to look after the poor and the sick. We believe in the power of democratic government to fairly represent all social classes, and reject the notion that politically favoring the rich is good for all people.
We believe there is a massive momentum building behind these ideas in both Texas and national politics that will drastically change our government in the years to come. We understand that the people have grown weary of the forces of greed, secrecy, intolerance, and hypocrisy that have overtaken our government. It is our goal to bring together these true patriots under the banner of Democratic change. As Thomas Jefferson once said, "Every generation needs a new revolution." We, the Denton County Young Democrats, are that revolution.

The lead-up to war in Iran is well underway and House Resolution 362, currently being considered is the first step. The resolution would authorize the blockade of Iran and prevent Iranian diplomats from traveling outside of the country. A peaceful resolution to conflict can not be found if leaders can not speak to each other. Make your voice heard this Friday during rush hour at the north east corner of Central and Meadow in Dallas [GET MAP]. Bring your signs, water and friends. Tell our elected officials to vote NO on HR 362 and NO to attacking Iran.
Join the Dallas Peace Center, Consumers for Peace, CLEAN (Citizens League for Environmental Action Now) and many concerned individuals in saying “EXXON ENOUGH!” tomorrow, May 28 at 8 am at the Meyerson Symphony Center.
This action has received a great deal of press including the Houston Chonicleand the Dallas Observer - it is crucial that we have a strong turnout!
Please plan on being there, and invite your friends. Don’t have any friends? E-mail office@dallaspeacecenter. org and we’ll send you a list of 10 people you can call and invite to attend (and to be your friend).
We’ll see you there!

As ExxonMobil shareholders gather for their annual meeting in Dallas, a coalition of environmental, faith and peace organizations will be holding environmental justice hearings, news conferences and a demonstration to increase shareholder and public awareness of the worldwide troubles wrought by this company.
• Enough of your pollution that harms the health of people living near your refineries and plants on the Texas Gulf Coast;
• Enough of your profiteering from the Iraq War, while people die, the wounded and displaced are neglected, and you engage our troops in your attempt to grab huge Iraqi oil reserves;
• Enough of your excess, windfall war profits while we pay outrageous prices for gas prices and watch economies around the world crumbling;
• Enough of the denial that burning petroleum products fuels global warming.
Wednesday, May 28
In front of the Meyerson Symphony Center, 2301 Flora St., Dallas
The entire coalition, victims of refinery pollution and high cost of gas, as well as
all in favor of ending war will gather with banners to loudly voice objections to the way
ExxonMobil is doing business. Exxon Enough!
