Derby in Dairyland: 2008 WFTDA Eastern Regional Tournament
October 10-12, 2008 Alliant Energy Center, Madison, WI
It's women's flat track roller derby at its finest: the 12 hottest teams in the East battling for 4 spots at the 2008 WFTDA National Tournament. You do NOT want to miss this!
As most of you may already know I went down in the last 3 seconds of the Suburban Brawl vs Hudson Valley Horrors bout. I was taken away by ambulance to the emergency room. Because I don't have health insurance, it took several weeks before I was able to find out that I had a displaced fracture of the lowest portion of my femur where it connects to my knee and a nice bone bruise.
On top of not having insurance, I can't work. I am a dog walker and pet sitter and can't manage to drive, let alone walk. I have to keep my leg elevated, keep it in a brace and use crutches to get around for at least five more weeks. Then I should be able to put weight on my leg after that and will have to attend physical therapy for a while to get my strength back.
My fellow league members decided to put together a benefit for me to raise some money for my mounting doctor's bills. Normally I would never ask for money or help but since they are all putting some much hard work into this event, I want it to be a success for their sakes.
If you can't make it to the benefit and would like to make a donation, you can mail it to: Suburbia Roller Derby, PO Box 332, Tarrytown, NY 10591
