Born and raised in Santa Monica,California, Derek began playing violin at age nine and the switched to acoustic bass in 7th grade.Classically trained,Derek began playing in bands by the ninth grade and turned pro at 18.The Los Angeles ska group "The Untouchables"was the first band that took Derek to the international stage.The year 2002 gave Derek the oportunity he wanted so bad....To be a solo artist!!With that goal in mind, 2005 found Derek realeasing his first solo record"East of Lincoln." Doing all the writing,and almost all the instruments,Derek feels he is well on his way to reaching his potential.
