Singer/songwriter Derek Raven never planned to play an instrument. As a singer, the Texas native moved to Los Angeles to pursue his music and acting endeavors, eventually landing a Co-Starring role on the internationally syndicated television series "High Tide". After stints in small theatre and several unsuccessful attempts at putting a band together, the self-taught musician picked up the guitar and learned his favorite instrument, the piano.
Inspired by the fingerpicking guitar work of Merle Travis and Lindsey Buckingham and the harmony singing of Fleetwood Mac and The Bee Gees, Derek set out to hone his songwriting and producing skills. Producing demos of over 30 original works in 2007, Derek is currently self-producing 12 songs from his catalog for his debut album.
