Sounds Like
Funky without being cheesy, deep without being pretentious. If it makes me or you bob your head or otherwise shake your ass, I'm happy.
I play electro, dubstep, Bmore, and drum n bass. I make dubstep, drum n bass, and other random beats.
If it's musical, chances are I've heard it once. I'm a huge fan of pretty much anything dance music-related, but I do have a weakness for breakbeats and bass, obviously. My love for EDM started way back in high school in the '90s. I've got a lot of love for hip hop, reggae, jazz, ska, indie, and other genres too. I've found that the stuff my parents raised me on is what I always come back to. I love any kind of song that evokes a memory or an emotion to give you that connection to the music.
I've been incredibly lucky during my DJ career to meet some really cool people and play some really fun shows throughout Texas. I took a bit of a hiatus to try my hand at producing, and have decided to come back to playing on the decks. It's one of the few things I enjoy in life, and I found myself missing it a lot.
Over the past few years, I've had several incarnations. There was the beginning guy, tentatively named "Funky Trainwrekka." Then, after listening to some good advice, went with "Desantnik," which works with my background in Russian culture and being in the army. It was under these two names that I played drum n bass. After tons of misspellings and having to explain it over and over again, I decided to switch my name to Sir Loin for the times I played with the Alamo City Rollergirls and then Seen One for regular dance gigs. It fit with the dubstep and jump-up I was playing at the time, however, I found that it belonged to someone else in LA already. And so began "AOS" which stands for "Army of Sean." And that's how it's going to stay for a bit. Currently I play drum n bass, electro, Bmore, and dubstep; although lately most of my bookings have been for the latter three in that list.
