the Desert Boys features members from some of Baltimore City's hardest working and most successful bands. Coming from diverse genres, the band unites different musical backgrounds to form a unique blend of alt.country, folk, and blues infused rock. Some of the heavier influences and inspirations are Whiskeytown, Paul Westerberg, Steve Earle, Wilco, Drive By Truckers, and of course the Stones. The band features Ryan Shelkett (Liars Academy, Cross my Heart, Blank) on vocals/guitar, Matt Smith (Strike Anywhere, Liars Academy) on Lead Guitar/vocals, Charles Cole (Two if By Sea, Squaaks) on Drums, Justin Custer (Squaaks) on Keys and Geoff Danek (Rocket to Venus, Holy Frijoles) on Bass. These guys have paid their dues, spending the last decade in the various bands touring nationally and worldwide. Desert Boys will be spending time in the studio later this month, to track their debut LP at Salad Days studio (Brian Mcternan, producer of Senses Fail, Hot Water Music, Thrice, Strike Anywhere).
The songs on this profile are demo recordings, used to get the idea across. Desert Boys have already begun playing in their home town, and will soon be branching out all over the east coast. Check back soon for the band's latest recordings!
